The word for redeemer is used 10 times in the book of Ruth (the number of perfection or perfect completion, the tenth letter of the Hebrew Alep-Bet is the yod it is the hand of GOD).

EXO 6:6, Say therefore to the sons of Israel, ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from their bondage. I will also redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments.

HE is the One who will pay the price that a redeemer must pay. A greater price in fact than any redeemer has ever had to pay.

DEU 32:6, “Do you thus repay the LORD, O foolish and unwise people? Is not He your Father who has bought you?
EXO 20:2, “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.”

PSA 19:4, Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer.

JOB 19:25, “As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, And at the last He will take His stand on the earth.”

HEB 2:11, Both the one who makes men holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So that Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers.

HEB 4:15, For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are.

He might he born into slavery.

He might become a slave by being captured by an invading army.

He might fall into debt so that he was forced to do the equivalent of declaring bankruptcy.

  1. He must be a Kinsman, a relative. The redeemer must be related to the one whom he is going to buy back out of slavery.
    2. He must be Free himself.
A slave was unable to purchase another slave.
  2. He must be able to Pay the Price.4. He must be Willing to pay the price.

The greatest example of the Kinsman redeemer is the LORD Jesus Christ. All other example simply foretell of or recall that glorious event. Another wonderful example of the Kinsman Redeemer and another foreshadowing of the Messiah is found in the book of Ruth.

Freedom
Marriage

Protection of and the preaching of the Gospel

Marriage is to be viewed as a holy covenant or a promise between a man and a woman, a necessity for the next Divine institution family…GOD’s divine plan to propagate the human race.

RUT 1:16, “your people shall be my people, and your God, my God”.

Naomi’s name means a delight, but she was becoming very bitter.

No matter how much of the world you have without the LORD, it will ultimately fail to satisfy.
However, with the LORD filling that vacuum, no matter how much of the world you have you will be satisfied.

GOD provided for childless widows in the OT through what is referred to as a Levirate marriage.

RUT 3:12-14, “Now it is true I am a close relative; however, there is a relative closer than I. “Remain this night, and when morning comes, if he will redeem you, good; let him redeem you. But if he does not wish to redeem you, then I will redeem you, as the LORD lives. Lie down until morning.” So, she lay at his feet until morning and rose before one could recognize her.

In CH 4:1-2 Boaz called the nearer kinsman to the gate of the city and asked for ten elders (Perfect completion) to join them to be public witnesses to the conversation he was going to have with him.

Serving the GOD that Exists is how you become beloved in HIS eyes.

In the story of Ruth we see the Portrait of the Messiah. In the OT Scriptures, events are recorded that are shadows or foreshadowing’s, portraits of truths or events that are presented in the NT.

COL 2:16-17, Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day—
things which are a
mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.

RUT 2:10, “Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in your eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a foreigner?”

Sin has ruined our inheritance and those that have not repented from their sin remain separated from the LORD.

Boaz is a picture of Jesus the Messiah. Boaz met all the requirements of the kinsman-redeemer. Just as our LORD Jesus Christ Jesus meets all of the requirements of our Kinsman Redeemer.

HE became a Kinsman by taking on flesh and becoming a man. Thus HE is related to Man having become one. HE and HE alone was free from the bondage of sin. Therefore, HE and HE alone was able to completely pay the full ransom price. HE and HE alone was willing to pay the price.

HEB 2:11-13, For both He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one Father (related); for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, saying, ‘I will proclaim Thy name to My brethren, in the midst of the congregation I will sing Thy praise.’

GAL 3:27-29, For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.

ROM 5:12, Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man (Adam), and death through sin, so also death was passed on to all men, because all sinned.
