1CO 4:7  For who regards you as superior? And what do you have that you did not receive? But if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?

This is the type of individual who specializes in what I like to call the “Terrible 3’s” manifested by lying, stealing and selfishness,

The Corinthian church had a reputation for rejecting authority and refusing to share their  “Love Feast Dinners”  with the poor or the less fortunate.

Laodicean spirit =  Rev 3:14 where the Lord tells the apostle John to write down what He is about to say to the lukewarm believers in Laodicea as well as to Corinth and Ephesus.

If they are cold the solution is simple; it is a one shot decision to solve the problem of the unbeliever;  Act 16:31.

If they are “Hot”  and they have made some negative decisions, all they have to do is use the Problem Solving Devices to rebound and to recover.

In both cases,  the solution is that if they are cold that means that there is really no difference between them or an unbeliever.

The decision for the “cold” unbeliever is simple, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and they would be saved.”

The decision for the “Hot” believer is also simple, apply the problem Solving devices to the problems that the “Hot” believer has with the doctrine that is needed.

Lukewarm believer — to get back into the plan of God for a certain amount of time so that the Lord is able to restore some of the doctrines they lost but now they need.

Cold = needs the solution for salvation;
Hot = needs to rebound and recover;
Lukewarm = a crash diet of doctrine.

Remedies that our Lord uses to heal the sickness of another, especially for those who have PV toward doctrine as well as those whose desires are for the life that exists in the Pre-designed Plan of God.

REV 3:16  says that with warm water,  it functions as if the individual expresses his PVTD and therefore, our Lord’s desire is for a healing especially in the spiritual realm if needed. These type of believers don’t even know that they have needs that need to be met and fulfilled as they worship our Lord.

Because you say that you are rich;
You have become wealthy;
You have need of nothing;

  1. All of us are told to “come” or “gather” together with one another.

HEB 10:25   not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging {one another}; and all the more, as you see the day drawing near. For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,

MAL 3:16   Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, and the   Lord gave attention and heard {it,} and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and who esteem His name.

From the original languages of the Koine Greek, there are certain prepositional phrases that God the Holy Spirit uses to say such things as Eph 3:18.

EPH 3:18   “That you may be able to comprehend [not with all the saints] but [in the presence of all the saints]  what is the breadth and length and height and depth,

MAT 18:20  “For where two or three have gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst.”

MAT 12:30  “He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters.

1TH 5:11  Therefore encourage one another, and build up one another, just as you also are doing.

  1. They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching or doctrine.
  2. They also emphasized the importance of fellowship with one another.
  3. They celebrated some of the Love Feasts and the Sabbaths.
  4. They also gathered together to the breaking of bread.
  5. They also gathered together for prayer with one another.

ACT 2:43   And everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles.

PSA 50:5  “Gather My godly ones to Me, Those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.”

PSA 133:1, David wrote “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell together in unity!”

ACT 20:7   And on the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul {began} talking to them, intending to depart the next day, and he prolonged his message until midnight.

  1. All of us are told or commanded to “come” or “gather” together with one another.
  2. We come together “as” a church not “in” the church.

You cannot have divisions or factions without heresies so that we can hear the voice of our Lord.

By divisions and dissensions in the Corinthian church, the very purpose of the eucharist is destroyed.

One thing that should characterize our Lord’s table is unity among believers.

This verse that it is impossible to eat the Lord’s supper when there are divisions among you.

None of us have the right to participate in the celebration of the Lord’s supper if we have unconfessed sins in our Life.

PSA 66:18  “If you regard evil or wickedness to rule in your heart, The Lord will not hear your prayer.

Bread =  the human body of our Lord which was given for us not for the payment of sins but for a home for our Lord to reside in when He will be forsaken by His Father.

“given thanks”  =  aor-act-part of  eucharisteo which means to be grateful,  to express gratitude. It is where we get the phrase the eucharist, or the giving thanks for grace.

Joh 10:18,  No one has taken my life away from Me, I lay it down on my own initiative.

Our Lord is the one who gave His life, He chose himself to be broken for our sins.

He took the bread and He broke it = which means no one killed our Lord unless the Lord allows it.

 “This is my body” =  He used the pres-act-part-ind of the verb eimi which is the verb of absolute status quo, and therefore it should be translated…..this keeps on being my body.

These were His words to the disciples just before His death.

He takes the bread and says, “This keeps on being my body” which is given to you.

Our Lord is going to die physically within the next 24 hours, but He says here “this keeps on being my body.”

He’s telling them that He’s going to die physically but He will rise from the dead and therefore, our Lord can say He has to rise from the dead because “this keeps on being my body.”

“Keep on doing this [the Lord’s table] in remembrance of me.”

“keep on doing this” = a pres-act-imp of the verb poieo which means to do, to perform, or to execute.

The present tense is what is known as linear aktionsart which means that it speaks of certain points of time when the Lord’s supper is to be celebrated.

The present tense means that we are to habitually celebrate the Lord’s supper, but that we are to habitually have certain points of time that are set aside to bring to remembrance the death of our Lord.

Now comes the shocker to the carnal apostate believer because this verb is in the imperative mood which means  = ,you and I are ordered to do it habitually!

Prin: It is a sin not to celebrate the Lord’s Supper and you are living in sin, just like the other sins that believers commit.

1Co 11:24  And when He had given thanks, He broke it, and said, “This is my body, or this keeps on being my body which is GIVEN for you;

so keep on celebrating our Lord’s death because we are commanded to keep on celebrating this most solemn ritual that demands reality from all of us.

It is not the normal preposition “en” but it “eis” and it introduces what we call in the Greek a purpose clause.

Prin: The communion table has a purpose.

The purpose of the bread is to bring to your memory the uniqueness of the person of Christ.

“Why do we need a commandment to bring to remembrance the unique person of Christ.”

This past week you sat down and began to think of how unique he Lord really is, and you can do this in detail because we have learned to focus on such doctrines as the hypostatic union.

God the Father and God the Holy Spirit are not like Him because God is not man.

Man is not like Him because He is God or He is the unique one of the universe.

Are you focusing on the person of Christ, and who He truly is and what He did for each and every one of us?

You are plagued with guilt and condemnation because you focused in on all the areas in your life that caused you guilt and condemnation, because you were concentrating on yourself and not remembering Him.

Celebration – it is designed not for you to think about how awful and terrible you are as a believer but it is designed for you to focus your attention on the unique one of the universe, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The bread refers to the person of Christ.
The cup refers to the work of Christ.

The person of Christ had to remain impeccable first, in order for the work of Christ to propitiate or satisfy God the Father.

  1. In Mat 20:22 “Are you able to drink from the cup that I am about to drink”?Mat 26:39, He said My Father if it is possible, let this cup pass from me;

Even the unbelievers will not be judged for their sins, because under the doctrine of the unlimited atonement and the fact that the Lord paid for them as well, and that’s Rev 20:12-13.

1Pe 2:24  And He Himself bore our sins “in” His body on the cross.

When certain people were crucified in the ancient world, the Romans, at times, were very kind to them, and they cut down their pain by offering them cheap G.I  wine.

The King James  calls it vinegar but the original language tells us that it was cheap wine.

This is the gospel or the good news, sins have been judged once, they will never be judged again.

The new covenant refers to his payment for the sins of the whole world.

The word covenant is diatheke which is used to denote the close relationship which God enters into with man.

This is called the “new” covenant or the kainos covenant meaning a brand new covenant that never existed before.
