but These [signs] have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.
The word preached leading to belief leading to life.
Each miracle John records is intended to prove that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.
They had believed in Him earlier, but this miracle served to strengthen and confirm their faith in Him. It helped them to know more about who He was.
Without the completed canon of scripture, these signs served to help the disciples come to know and believe that He is the Messiah and the Savior.
The deepest meaning of the miracle , which relates to the life; the eternal life we have received and have the opportunity to live in now in time.
1. Faith at salvation, responding with positive volition to the convincing ministry of God the Holy Spirit and the utterance of the Gospel by an ambassador for Christ.
2. We learn the word of God and discover who He is – we come to know Him (PHI 3:10)
3. The maturing of our spiritual life where we really live in the power and works of the Lord.
His first miracle, the genesis of His entire ministry, is performed to provide and preserve the joy at a wedding feast.
To have run out of wine at a Jewish wedding in the first century was awful.
Our Lord’s miracle turned a situation of hopelessness into a situation of life and joy.
His first miracle is a gracious indication of the joy which He offers us by means of the filling of the Spirit.
Jesus chose to make this first miracle very much a private miracle – intended primarily for His disciples.
If anyone should have known how to turn water into wine, it is the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ.
COL 1:16 For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities — all things have been created through Him and for Him.
Included among these plants and trees was the grape vine.
In fact the only way to get wine is to start with water.
Each year the Lord Jesus Christ turns water into wine in the agricultural and fermentation processes. Here in Cana He simply did the process immediately!
In the Old Testament, in the desert, they had no water.
Now they have no wine.
Moses turned the water into blood.
The Lord Jesus Christ turns the water into wine.

Our Lord turns water into wine.
Jesus produced between 120 and 180 gallons of the finest wine for these people!
It takes about 5 bottles of wine to make a gallon.
A terrific bottle of wine costs, what, maybe ?
Multiply 0 times 180 gallons and you get what?
Signs leading to belief in TLJC leading to life.
“I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”
Seemeion is a technical term for the miracles associated with the Messiah, the promised King and Savior.
First day: John the Baptist confronted the Jewish delegation from Jerusalem.
Second day: John identified Jesus for the first time as “The Lamb from God”.
Third day: Andrew and an unnamed disciple (almost certainly John the writer of this Gospel) followed Jesus.
Fourth day: The events connected with Andrew’s call of his brother Peter.
Fifth day: Jesus called Nathanael.
Sixth day: Spent in traveling.
Seventh day: Jesus arrived in Cana and was invited with His disciples to the wedding.
1. Ministry of John the Baptist.
2. The call of the first disciples.
3. The miracle of Cana.
