The Miracles of Christ

A miracle is an unusual and significant event which requires the working of a supernatural agent and is performed for the purpose of authenticating the message or the messenger.

What was the meaning for the Jews who saw the miracle?
What was the meaning for the disciples?
What was the meaning for the person healed?
What does it mean to us?

“He that is without sin among you, let him be the first to cast a stone at her.”

Deliverance of the Demon possessed man in the Synagogue.

Mark 1:21-28
Luke 4:31-37

LUK 4:18-19 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.”

Miracles do not cause us to grow spiritually; the miracles are not meant to, nor do they sustain us, but His words (Bible Doctrine) will.

Jesus was different. He didn’t quote anyone else.
He only quoted scripture,

and then He explained it.

The demons were quite convinced about Who was standing before them.

Despite what the world might say about the Lord Jesus Christ, the spirit world, including the fallen angels, and the demons, they know Who He is.

Only the fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”

MAR 1:1 The beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

While His own disciples don’t seem to always know who He is, the demons certainly do.

They all believed in the demons, the demons believed He was God, so why the disconnect?

Power succumbs only to power, and even then reluctantly.

Cleansing the Leper

MAR 1:40-45
MAT 8:2-4

This was a totaling isolating disease.

“The blind were restored their sight, the lame walked and the lepers are healed.”

Not since Elisha healed Naaman the Syrian in 2 Kings 5 had anyone been healed of leprosy.

Sending the ex-leper to the priests was as much for the man’s benefit as it was a sign for the priests.

Healing the Man with the Withered Hand
LUK 6:6-11; MAT 12:9-13; MAR 3:1-5

The irony is that He is trying to save life and they are trying to destroy life (His to be precise.)

Cleansing of the Ten Lepers
LUK 17:11-19

They certainly knew that they had the disease, and they certainly knew that they were cured of it.

Are we really thankful for all that the Lord has done for us?

JOH 21:25 And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.
