Though your beliefs go contrary to the herds of men and they will slander you and attempt to harm you, don’t give them a second thought – draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
Ps 37:1-2
Do not fret because of evildoers,
Be not envious toward wrongdoers.
For they will wither quickly like the grass,
And fade like the green herb
PSA 37:3-4
Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.
Delight yourself in the Lord;
And He will give you the desires of your heart.
If you lose fear from your life you take away one of Satan’s major weapons.
The Lord is not afraid because He trusts in the word of God.
JER 17:7-8
Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord And whose trust is the Lord.
“For he will be like a tree planted by the water, That extends its roots by a stream And will not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought Nor cease to yield fruit.
The promise of deliverance from fear extends to external and internal fears.
External – slanders, attacks, oppositions from men
Internal – low self image, inadequacy, fear of losing your life
When they heard the message the temple guard stood there unable to do a thing. The message hit home with them.
When it says “they answered” it is an aorist passive indicative of apokrinomai, which means to discern so that you have an answer for yourself. They heard His message and they received an answer for themselves.
God came to them, they didn’t seek after God. Christ gave them the message and the Gospel and they received that in grace, and then they believed in Christ as Savior.
The only ones who generally taught in the temple were from Sanhedrin and the guards are saying in effect to their faces, “You’ve never taught a message even close to this man.”
The guards when to arrest Jesus and they in turn were arrested by His message, and so much so that they had no fear in telling their bosses all about it.
PVTD gives you the ability to have spiritual self esteem where you are spiritually self sustained
This is the old argument from personal authority. Don’t ever fall for this line. “Do the scientists believe? Do the Ph.D’s believe? Do the professor’s believe?”
The cross is the place of ultimate love, extreme grace, and fulfillment of the first promise of total victory over evil. The cross was all God’s accomplishments on behalf of the human race. Love, grace, and truth = power.
What the unbeliever finds to be total foolishness the believer with PVTD finds to be love, grace, and truth that he cherishes.
They know the Law fluidly and yet they are fully cursed. The Law does not save anyone.
Observance of the Law, memorizing the Law as an intellectual didn’t save anyone. People in all dispensations and generations have been saved in one way and one way only – believe on TLJC as your Savior.
So therefore, the Law, while a great blessing to Israel has nothing to do with salvation. Rather, the Law showed anyone who observed it their need for a Savior.
No, rather they do what any arrogant megalomaniac does when their views are confronted – they insult you.
The earliest Greek manuscript known to contain the passage is Codex Bezae, of the fifth century. The oldest manuscripts that we have from the 3rd and 4th centuries do not contain this passage.
Our oldest copy of the Gospel of John is papyrus-66 which originates from around c.200 A.D. and it does not contain this passage.
John 8:11c
From now on sin no more.
This writing is typical of mankind adding to the Scripture – lack of grace. God originates grace and we receive it from the word that He inspired through the writers. When man tries to write scripture without inspiration it inevitably results in legalism, which always lacks grace.

Here is divine protection. They came to do Him violence and they stayed to hear this wonderful message.
