Apekdechomai eagerly wait, to wait eagerly with patience, or to anticipate with patience, to wait for expectantly, or intensely.
Paul is emphasizing that the ultimate end and object of our salvation is our glorification.
Glorification means full and entire deliverance from sin, evil, and the entire old sin nature in every respect, (body, soul, spirit), 1Th 5-23-24.
Man at the beginning had glory; GEN 1:26 “Then God said, Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;”
ROM 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
PSA 19:12 “Who can understand his errors? Acquit me of hidden faults.”
Mans body was not at the beginning what it is now. PHI 3:21 “the body of our humiliation.”
EPH 4:22 “that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,”
Nature had its’ fall along with mans fall because Adam was the ruler of the world and nature suffered because of association.
Royal family – Church-age believers. Family of God – the Old Testament saints.
Nature is looking forward to the Second advent which brings the material universe out of that slavery and back to the normal function of perfect environment.
Creation is released from the bondage of mans sinfulness; ROM 8:19-22. Plant and animal life abound; ISA 35:1-7. Animals lose their ferocity; ISA 11:6-9; ISA 65:25.
