1. The multitude following: 2. The missing faith: 3. The miraculous feeding: 4. The many fragments: 5. The Messiah foretold.

Matthew tells us that the Lord desired to withdraw with His disciples to an isolated place by Himself; and when the multitudes heard of this, they followed Him on foot from the cities.

This is something that every minister, every servant of God needs, a time of refreshing, a time when he can take off and get away from the demands and the pressures of ministry.

ROM 12:2 a time to concentrate on being transformed by the renewing of your mind,”

2CO 4:16 a time to be refreshed as the inner man is being renewed day by day.

EPH 4:23 says to be renewed in the spirit of your mind or the breathing of your soul,

COL 3:10 says to put on the new self who is being renewed by means of epignosis doctrine.

He was not popular because of His wonderful message and because of who He was.

MAT 14:13, Matthew tells us that the Lord desired to withdraw with His disciples to a lonely place by Himself; and when the multitudes heard of this, they followed Him on foot from the cities.

Mark tells us that He took a boat and they went secretly, trying to get away.

1. The Multitude Following: 2. The Missing Faith: 3. The Miraculous Feeding: 4. The Many Fragments: 5. The Messiah Foretold.

Now when John wrote about it, evidently Jesus had been up in the mountain for a while with His disciples instructing them.

John tells us that Jesus looked down the mountain and saw this crowd coming.

MAT 9:36  And seeing the multitudes, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and downcast like sheep without a shepherd.

He saw them in their lost confused condition as they were walking up the mountain confused naturally, but as Matthew insinuates, even more confused spiritually = milling around.

What He did was come down off that mountain and spent a whole day healing, raising the sick and teaching.

Note at verse 37 of chapter 6. Whenever anybody came to Christ He had time for them.

His love was so great that in spite of their motives He met their needs.

That wasn’t Jesus’ way, He never got rid of anybody.

“seeing” – Aor-Mid-Part of the Greek verb theaomai which means to look closely, to discern.

It means to really look something over, and is used for a general who could look over a situation and get the picture.

Perhaps if He wasn’t there, he would have never been asked this question and therefore He had the privilege of being tested by TLJC.

The more opportunities and rsponsiblities He will call upon us and challenge us to.

This falls under that principle of LUK 12:48, to whom much is given much will be required.

The Amplified Version says LUK 12:48b; For everyone to whom much is given, of him shall much be required; and of him to whom
men entrust much, they will require and demand all the more.

LUK 12:48  Great gifts mean great responsibilities; greater gifts, greater responsibilities.

Those who are afraid of failing and therefore they never try anything.   Those who try anything because they’re not afraid to fail.

You can either be close to the Lord and have Him use you because you’re available,   Or you can be like most Christians and stand far away from Him and never be used at all.

Philip was standing close to the Lord and therefore he will be used by TLJC.

The Bible teaches that God abides in us by allowing His Holy Spirit to dwell in each believer.
drawing near to God is based upon confidence because of the throne of God being a throne of grace, in HEB 4:16.

Drawing near to God is based upon understanding the New Covenant or the New Testament in HEB 7:19.

Drawing near to God gives us the confidence of divine deliverance, HEB 7:25.

Drawing near to God is based upon our heart free from guilt, HEB 10:22. In 1831 he failed miserably in business, In 1832 he was defeated for legislature In 1833 he failed again in business
in 1834 he was elected to legislature In 1835 his sweetheart died In 1836 he had a nervous breakdown
In 1838 he was defeated for speaker of the house In 1840 he was defeated for elector In 1843 defeated in congress
In 1846 defeated for senate In 1848 defeated for congress In 1855 defeated for senate

In 1856 defeated for vice-president In 1858 defeated for senate In 1860 he was elected president

JAM 4:8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double‑minded.

MAT 28:20  “And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Philip will fail –  it is much better to fail and learn the valuable lessons that the Lord will teach us then to sit back and not do a thing.

He said “I do the very best I know how, the very best I can, and I mean to keep doing so”   Abraham Lincoln
Philip is a believer with a human spirit, does he have any doctrine or is his human spirit minus doctrine?
This is a challenge or a test for Philip to say that we don’t have to go anywhere to buy bread, You are the Son of the living God.
