Thomas is probably best known for his inability to believe that Jesus had indeed risen from the dead.
Do you really think that your daily decisions will determine your eternal destiny and your lifetime memory?
He is known till this day for doubt. MAT 14:31 “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
JAM 1:6 But let him ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
JUD 1:22 And have mercy on some, who are doubting;
Doubting and ignorant people always assume that everyone is thinking as they are.
Once a person becomes a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and neglects or rejects or becomes negative toward doctrine, he appears to be stupid because he is in reversionism, going backward in the spiritual life, rather than forward.
PRO 14:14 The backslider in heart will have his fill of his own ways,
Reversionism does not necessarily mean you are living in a certain sin; it means you are going backward in the spiritual life, rather than forward.
When a believer is disoriented to the plan of God for his life, ultimately he is disoriented to life itself.
TLJC is about to depart; however, He will leave His thinking behind and therefore they will still be able to see God with the eyes of their soul.
Once Christ ascends the plan of God the Father is seen through His word.
Philip was very slow to learn, not because he was dumb but because he was side-tracked by other issues.
Philip is one of those believers loaded down with human viewpoint, and he was a believer who rejected the teaching of our Lord though he was impressed with the person of our Lord.
He calls the Lord Kurios because Philip recognizes the deity of Christ; he is saved.
“Show us” – imper-act-imp – deixon dei’xon = to demonstrate, to prove, to teach, to make known.
He is like many believers who have had the communication of Bible doctrine available to them for a long time but do not want it until they are in some jam.
He has taught him for three years, and it is now time for our Lord to fulfill the Father’s will and go to the cross and die for the sins of the whole world, including Philip’s.
Enough – pres-act-ind – arkei – a*rkei’ = to be content, satisfied, or pleased.
The objective of the communication of Bible doctrine is not to please the listener but to teach the listener, to inculcate, to indoctrinate.
Jesus says, “The Father and I are one; I am the revealer of the Father; if you have seen me, you have seen the Father,”
Philip’s problem is that he can sit in Bible class where the Lord is the teacher for approximately 3 years, and never get a thing.
“Ouk” = the strongest negative for rejection of doctrine.
For 3 years, Jesus Christ has been teaching doctrine, and that doctrine reveals God the Father and the Father’s plan.
The Lord is saying that through the word of God the Father, and the power given to Him, He was able to do the works that God the Father called Him to do.
Every believer is to take the word of God and mix it with the power of God and perform the works that God the Father calls him to perform.
The failure of Philip to learn doctrine, the doctrine of seeing God, is his failure to realize that all 3 persons of the Godhead have identical essence.
The humanity of Christ can be seen and the humanity of Christ can be heard as He teaches doctrine to the disciples.
Essence box: sovereignty, righteousness, justice, love, eternal life, omnipotence, omniscience, omnipresence, immutability, and veracity.
EPH 1:18 “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,”
You cannot see God with your human eyes, but if you are born again with the human spirit and the left lobe of the soul, your spiritual eyes, you can see God.
Here is the Father, and here is the Son; they are identical in essence –
then here is the Son only, in His humanity, which can be seen.
Doctrine coming in = the inhale of the soul of our Lord. In His exhale, the very words that I speak, this is the breath of life.
JOH 6:63 the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.
If you cannot believe His word now because of who and what He is or claims to be, then believe on account of the works or the things He has already done in your life.
Think about how many times the Lord came through for you in your hour of difficulty and trial even though you were totally unworthy; He was always there for you.
The problem that a lot of believers have is failure to recall the blessings and the promises of God.
This anticipates the production of divine good from believer priests in the Church-age, including definitely Philip.
Neuter plural – meizona – meivzona = greater in quantity but not quality.

One of the strongest proofs that the Bible is God-breathed is the fact that so many prophecies were fulfilled by the Person and life of the Lord Jesus Christ
Prophecies fulfilled!
Zech 11:12-13 fulfilled by MAT 27:3-7
PSA 22:16-18 fulfilled by LUK 23:33-35
Amos 8:9 fulfilled by MAT 27:45
The Lord Jesus Christ was completely aware that He was called to be the One to fulfill all of them.
JOH 12:33 But He was saying this to indicate the kind of death by which He was to die.
ISA 53:10 But the LORD was pleased to crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would render Himself as a guilt offering,
He had stopped that slaughter . He would not prevent this one.
Jesus Christ was born to fulfill prophecy – and He knew it. And after Jesus Christ rose from the dead, prophecy was still on His mind.
We too are so slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken!
Get out of your comfort zone! Take some risks with your life in Christ!
There is only one thing that we ought to say:Lead on, Lord. Yes, I will follow You.
