Nehemiah Part 4.

Each of the gates speak of different experiences in our Christian life that we need to come into.
1. The Sheep Gate,
NEH 3:1,32; called the sheep gate because this was the gate which the sheep and lambs which were used in the sacrifices were brought through.
2. The Fish Gate which speaks of evangelism or the new believer sharing the good news or the Gospel with others, NEH 3:3.
3. The Old Gate, NEH 3:6, which speaks to us of the old ways of truth.
4. The Valley Gate, NEH 3:13, which speaks to us of being humbled by means of trials and tribulations.
5. The Dung Gate, NEH 3:14.
This is the gate that they would take all the garbage and rubbish out of Jerusalem, down to the valley of Hinnom to be burned.
The Valley experiences are used by the Lord to clear away the rubbish so that our real faith which has been refined by fire can come forth and produce fruit.
PSA 107:20 He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.
PSA 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted, And binds up their wounds.
You must remember if the Holy Spirit is not filling you or controlling your soul, He also has the ministry toward you such as conviction.
We have to be careful to understand the difference between true conviction and condemnation.
ROM 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
ROM 4:7-8, Blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven, And whose sins have been covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not take into account.”
1. Many parents use guilt as a method of disciplining and correcting their children.
2. Satan accuses God’s people to try to make them feel guilty,
REV 12:10.
REV 12:10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, who accuses them before our God day and night.”
3. Sin can make a person feel so guilty that they hide from God and separate, GEN 3:7-10.
4. Being too concerned about what others might say produces guilt, JOH 12:42-43.
JOH 12:42-43, Nevertheless many even of the rulers believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing {Him,} lest they should be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the approval of men rather than the approval of God.
5. Being a receiver of something you didn’t earn or deserve produces guilt.
6. Guilt also causes the inability to say no.
7. People also become guilty and they experience guilt due to their feelings of inadequacy or some type of inferiority complex, 2CO 10:12.
2CO 10:12 For we are not bold to class or compare ourselves with some of those who commend themselves; but when they measure themselves by themselves, and compare themselves with themselves, they are without understanding.
8. Many people cannot accept their weaknesses and this causes them to feel guilty about themselves, 2CO 10:12.
9. It is possible to experience guilt not only from the evil that we do but from the good we neglected to do,
JAM 4:17.
JAM 4:17 Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do, and does not do it, to him it is sin.
6. The Fountain Gate, NEH 3:15.
After a valley type experience where rubbish in our lives is cleared out and true faith comes forth, then the fountains begin to flow and it doesn’t take long.
7. The Water Gate,
NEH 3:26.
The next gate was called the water gate which is a picture of the word of God and its effect in our life.
8. The Horse Gate,
NEH 3:28 which speaks to us of warfare because horses were used in battle and became a symbol of war.
9. The East Gate,
NEH 3:29, known by the Jews for one particular event – the coming of the Messiah!
The east gate opens and looks toward the Mount of Olives and we know that when Jesus returns He will return to this mount, ZEC 14:4.
