The New Testament analogy of the Old Testament Fish Gate. Filling of the Spirit and the Fruit of the Spirit. Part 4.

Wednesday, July 18, 2012

We have been studying the analogy of the spiritual life of the OT believer revealed by the Fish Gate in the book of Nehemiah as it relates to the filling of the Spirit and the fruit of the Spirit for believer in the Church-age.

The main spiritual principle is revealed by the fact that the filling of the Spirit within the believer’s soul cannot be seen while the manifestation of the fruit of the Spirit can be seen.

EPH 5:18 + GAL 5:16 =
GAL 5:22-23.
or
EPH 5:18 (filling of H.S) + GAL 5:16 (P.M.A. of B.D. – Walking by means of H.S. = GAL 5:22-23 (Fruit of the H.S.).

The command of EPH 5:18b, “be filled with the Spirit,” is to produce GAL 5:22-23, the fruit of the Spirit, which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; by means of GAL 5:16, walking by means of the Spirit.

1. The First one, the filling of the Spirit, is vital to understand because it is the first power option of the spiritual life for the Church-age believer.

There is a second power option for the Christian, which is doctrinal orientation to life (or Bible doctrine learned and metabolized).

The filling of the Spirit is an option, simply because you must make a decision to be filled with the Spirit.
The filling of the Spirit is also the second problem-solving device for the execution of the PPOG.
1TH 5:19 Do not quench the Spirit.

You quench the HS when you allow the OSN to control the soul, either by allowing stress in the soul to produce sin, by allowing false doctrine to enter the soul, or by using defensive mechanisms instead of the PSD provided in the Word of God.

EPH 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Spirituality, (the filling of the Holy Spirit), is the link between salvation and spiritual adulthood.

The advance from salvation to spiritual adulthood requires the filling of the Holy Spirit and the daily intake of Bible doctrine.

A. False Gospel, 2CO 4:3-4.
B. False Ministers, 2CO 11:13-15.
C. False Doctrine, 1TI 4:1.
D. A False Communion table, 1CO 10:19-21.

E. A False System of Spirituality, GAL 3:2-3.
F. A False System of Righteousness, MAT 19:16-28.
G. A False System of Power and Dynamics, 2TH 2:8-10.
H. A False System of gods, 2TH 2:3-4.

A. Walking in the Spirit, GAL 5:16.
B. Walking in the light, 1JO 1:7.
C. Imitating Christ, EPH 5:1.

D. Epistles of Christ ministered by the Spirit, 2CO 3:3.
E. Being partakers of the divine nature, 2PE 1:4.
F. Be filled with the Spirit, EPH 5:18.

We receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and the filling of the Holy Spirit simultaneously at the point of salvation.

GAL 5:16-17, But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh [the indwelling OSN] sets its desire against the Spirit [the indwelling Holy Spirit], and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.

We never lose the indwelling of the Spirit, but we do lose the filling of the Spirit (the control of God the Holy Spirit over our soul).

EPH 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
JOH 14:16, “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper [God the Holy Spirit], that He may be with you forever.” 1CO 6:18-19, Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body.

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?

When we rebound (confess our sins to God the Father, 1JO 1:9), the Holy Spirit again controls the soul. Carnality is simply loss of the filling of the Holy Spirit.

Therefore, sin minus rebound equals carnality. The filling of the Holy Spirit is recovered when the believer adjusts to the justice of God through rebound, 1JO 1:9.

Because the body is the headquarters of the old sin nature, the Holy Spirit sets up His headquarters in the body for counteraction.

We are always indwelt by the Holy Spirit, but He does not control us when we sin (grieve Him) or perform human good or evil (quench Him).

1CO 3:16 Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
JOH 14:16-17 “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you, and will be in you.”

One of the most serious descriptions of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is the word “anointing” or “unction” of the Spirit is found in 1JO 2:20,27.

We are being plunged into a period of time about which the Bible says more than it does about any other period in human history- including the time when Jesus walked the shores of the Sea of Galilee or climbed the mountains of Judea.

Antichrist does not refer to “the Antichrists,” who will be a man claiming to be the Christ.
“many Antichrist” = bels or unbels who claim to be followers of Christ but are either reversionistic or apostate believers or unbelievers who are against God’s anointed ones.

MAT 7:20-23, “So then, you will know them by their fruits. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’

PHI 3:18 For many keep walking, concerning whom I have warned you many times, and now continue to affirm, even weeping, the enemies of the cross of Christ,
JAM 4:4 You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

1JO 2:28 And now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming.

And God gave us free will in order to resolve the angelic conflict by means of glorifying Him.

The glorification of God by means of the Church occurs when the believer attains spiritual adulthood and moves to spiritual maturity and he does so by producing the fruit of the Spirit.

The filling of the Spirit (that within the believer’s soul which cannot be seen and therefore the invisible part of the spiritual life) produces the fruit of the Spirit (that which is manifested by the believer that can be seen) which is to produce the fruit of the Spirit in the body.

God’s Spirit has His permanent dwelling place in us [to be at home in us, collectively as a church and also individually].

1SA 24:6 to his men, “Far be it from me because of the Lord that I should do this thing to my lord, the Lord’s anointed, to stretch out my hand against him, since he is the Lord’s anointed.”

1SA 24:10 “Behold, this day your eyes have seen that the Lord had given you today into my hand in the cave, and some said to kill you, but my eye had pity on you; and I said, ‘I will not stretch out my hand against my lord, for he is the Lord’s anointed.’

In 1SA 26:9 David said to Abishai, “Do not destroy him, for who can stretch out his hand against the Lord’s anointed and be without guilt?”

In 1SA 26:11 “The Lord forbid that I should stretch out my hand against the Lord’s anointed;

In 1CH 16:22 “Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.”

In 2CO 1:21 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God,

Because when God the Holy Spirit made your physical body a temple of God, He made it for the indwelling of TLJC as the Shekinah Glory.

ROM 6:13 do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin {as} instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members {as} instruments of righteousness to God.

Rom12:1 I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

In 2CO 4:10, we are said to always be carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested [where] in our body.

Then in 2CO 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

Paul said in PHI 1:20c….Christ shall even now, as always, be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.

So, God the Holy Spirit made your physical body a temple of God for the visible manifestation part of the indwelling of TLJC as the Shekinah Glory.

On the other hand, your human soul is filled with the Holy Spirit for the indwelling of Jesus Christ as a representative of the invisible part of the Shekinah Glory.

Our physical body is made a temple of the HS for the indwelling of Jesus Christ as a representative of the Shekinah part of the indwelling of TLJC, while our human soul is filled with the Spirit for the visible manifestation of the indwelling of Jesus Christ as a representative of the Glory .

a. At spiritual self-esteem the believer has knowledge and self-confidence.
b. At spiritual autonomy the believer has the strong independence, not from God but from depending on man.
c. At spiritual maturity the believer has cognitive invincibility and can manufactured into an invisible hero.

Now this happens when the believer glorifies God as he parlays the life beyond gnosis (EPH 3:19) into the life beyond dreams (EPH 3:20).
