There is no divine revelation in the dried up spiritual life.
Friday, February 29, 2008
When God first talked to Abram He talked to him in Ur. He gave him
GEN 12:1-3, in Ur.
A half separation is no separation.
While Abram was in Haran there was no divine revelation.
2TI 2:4 No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.
LUK 6:40 “A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher.”
You leave the pastor-teacher or the local assembly that God has placed you in, and you will end up in Haran, the dried up spiritual life.
There never is any divine revelation in Haran, because Haran represents reversionism or apostasy or backsliding.
Since Haran was a digression from the plan of God and total rejection of the commands of God, there was no appearance to Abram in Haran.
It’s either goodbye family and hello blessing, or it’s goodbye blessing and hello trouble.
Anyone who allows their family to keep them from doctrine is going to inevitably wind up as a dried up believer.
Abraham delayed the birth of his son Isaac 25 years by making this stupid move.
Abram half-obeyed God by leaving Ur but a half obedience eventuates in a dried up life.
1JO 3:15 Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
Abram had to separate from his family because he was weak and easily influenced and persuaded.
The wrong person commands.
Terah is an idolater and is in command.
It is the Lord that should be in command of Abram not Terah.
Half-obedience means no obedience.
HEB 10:25 “Do not forsake assembling yourselves together.”
Once you get here you have to concentrate and listen under the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Full obedience is goodbye Terah.
1. Terah = putting loved ones before the Lord.
When love and respect get between Abram and doctrine then something has to give.
The first reason why believers become losers and under the influence of evil is putting something you love before the Lord.
2. Lot = a hypocritical deceptive person.
Zophar who was one of those friends who had been secretly competing with Job, and when Job received some of his escrow blessings, jealousy almost killed brother Zophar.
Self-righteous legalistic pip-squeaks are “users.”
Terah commanded Abram and Lot used Abram.
After Abram finally gets away from Terah he goes forward in the plan of God and then he gets into reversionism because of Lot.
His father ordered him around and Lot flattered him.
3. Sarai = she’s his wife, and no divorce, she’s going to have to change.
Terah leads Abram around by the nose by commanding him.
Lot leads Abram around by the nose through being sweet.
Sarai leads Abram around by the nose by nagging him.
He has a father commanding him into submission, a nephew flattering him into submission, and a wife nagging him into submission.
The real thing that is wrong with this country is that there are very few men left.
PRO 23:7 For as he thinks within himself, so he is.
1CO 16:13 Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.
When men are no longer men then women have nothing to respond to.
Those associations such as Terah, Lot, and Sarai, can lead the believer to reversionism or backsliding.
Before Abram will reach spiritual maturity, he will have to be separated from Terah and Lot, and Sarai will have to be changed by doctrine and become Sarah which means princess.
There is no place for togetherness when doctrine takes second place.
That is what a lot of churches do when they say let’s get together and have fellowship and put aside our doctrinal differences, which is really putting aside what Jesus Christ thinks....and therefore reversionism.
1. Repentance and recovery through the daily function of perception, metabolization, and application of Bible doctrine.
2. If you are not smart enough to respond to the first which is the easy way out, the second one is intensive shock discipline.
Abram broke out of Haran only after his father died.
God uses adverse circumstances to awaken the believer in reversionism to his status of apostasy and bring him to the repentance necessary for reversion recovery.
You must learn to correctly evaluate the adversities in your life.
Objectively, you evaluate your adversities and you allow God to speak to you through those adversities; then you will learn the great lessons that God desires to teach you.
Many times you will be aware of suffering, but not understand its fantastic implications in the over-all plan of God.
God is not only faithful in blessing His people, but He is also faithful in disciplining His people.
He is faithful in what He withholds just like in what He gives.
He is faithful in sending sorrow as well as in giving joy.
The faithfulness of God is a truth to be acknowledged by us, not only when we are at ease but when we are in trouble.
To agree with this means that we humble ourselves before Him and owe up to the fact that we fully deserve His correction and instead of any murmuring or complaining, we thank Him for it.
PSA 89:33 Even if they sin and rebel I will not deal falsely in my faithfulness.
Hosea 5:15 in their affliction they will seek me earnestly.
PSA 37:23 The steps of a man are established by the Lord; And He delights in his way.
PSA 37:24 When he falls, he shall not be hurled headlong; Because the Lord is the One who holds his hand.
PSA 37:25 I have been young, and now I am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Or his descendants begging bread.
God is greatly honored when under testing for blessing or divine discipline, we have proper thoughts toward Him and recognize His divine attributes in action.
