An Introduction to the Christian Stand
Sun Tsu in The Art of War
“He will win who knows
when to fight and when
not to fight.”
Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY,” says the Lord. ROM 12:19
Sun Tsu in The Art of War
“He will win who knows
how to deal with inferior
and superior forces.”
Sun Tsu in The Art of War
“To fight and to conquer in
all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy’s resistance without fighting.”
Submit therefore to God.
Resist the devil and he will flee from you. JAM 4:7
Well… starting late January 15 our 2009 Arizona Bible Conference unofficially began. It lasted until late Sunday, January 18th and was the best conference I’ve had yet.
I was amazed by the way God orchestrated things, from the teaching, to the living examples of that teaching, to the challenges people wrestled with both from the teaching and from each other, to the interactions between them.
It was truly like a living organism, the way people fell and rose again, and came and went, bringing challenge, inspiration, nourishment and encouragement
and carrying away the waste materials of old, wrong thinking; the waste materials of pain; the waste materials of bondage; the waste materials of condemnation; and the waste materials of failure.

And do not be conformed to
this world, but (keep on) be(ing) transformed by the renewing of your mind (thinking), so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
ROM 12:2
For as he (all mankind) thinks within himself, so he is.

The Christian Way of Life begins by SIT-ting.

who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ… EPH 1:3

What is Your Soul Condition?
The Christian Way of Life advances by STANDing.
Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes (strategies) of the devil.
EPH 6:11
When he (believers in Christ) falls (becomes a resident of
the cosmic system), he will not be hurled headlong (lose his salvation), because the Lord (Jesus Christ) is the One who holds his hand. PSA 37:24
Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 1PE 5:8
The Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.” Then Satan answered the Lord, “Does Job fear God for nothing?”JOB 1:8-9
“Have You not made a hedge (a wall of fire) about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has; he will surely curse You to Your face.” JOB 1:10-11
SIT-WALK-STAND
STAND
The demonstration of an attitude, reflected by firmness and resolve in adherence to a set of principals…to remain upright and resistant in the face of pressure
Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him, (standing) firm in your faith (bible doctrine), knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world. 1PE 5:8-9
Take a STAND

STAND up for yourself

STAND for something

STAND and deliver

STAND up for what you believe in

If you STAND for nothing you’ll fall for anything

Go to the witness STAND

Get up…STAND up… STAND up for your rights

STAND up to crises… don’t let them throw you

STAND in the gap

It is for doctrine that we STAND
The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever. ISA 40:8
For we will all stand before
the judgment seat of God.
ROM 14:10
Be on the alert, stand firm
in the faith, act like men,
be strong. 1CO 16:13
… stand firm against the schemes of the devil. EPH 6:11
…stand perfect and fully assured in all the will of God. COL 4:12
Behold, I stand at the door
and (keep on) knock(ing with a rebound opportunity)…
REV 3:20
We have to take a stand in every decision.
“We had the opportunity
and we didn’t really take advantage of our opportunities.”
“We played good football,
but not great football”
“There is a lesson to be learned from this. This is not the time to throw any of my reason away and my faith away. My life is not over because we lost this game. There is a lesson to be learned from this. I am going to try my best to learn that lesson, and hopefully we can come back and try to do this again next year.”
We have to take a stand in every decision.
The believer in Christ’s failure to choose to consciously tap into the omnipotence of God on a moment by moment basis is the worst decision we consistently make in our Christian experience.
…but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
