Part of the old things that have lost their power: human good.

Sunday, January 31, 2010

2CO 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone [Church-age believer] is in Christ [and they are], he is a new creature or spiritual species the old things [position in Adam, spiritual death] have passed away or lost their power; behold, new things have come [the invisible assets plus the PPOG]."

Part of the old things that have passed away is human good, which is a function of the O.S.N.

Now, there are many ways that the O.S.N. will try to shatter the believer with personal or self-explosion, which occurs from within.

Mystery doctrine for the Church-age is the necessary food of the new creature and without it that nature becomes weak and eventually there occurs self-explosion which results in self-induced misery and divine discipline.

HEB 6:1 says Therefore, leaving or [graduating from] the elementary teachings about the Christ [basic doctrines of Hypostatic Union, Christology, soteriology], let us press on to maturity [execution of PPOG and the glorification of God], not laying again a foundation [doctrines of salvation and spirituality] of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God."

1. Avoid the false doctrine that you have to lay the foundation of Christ again, i.e. that you can lose your salvation and have to rededicate yourself or believe again.

2. Avoid remaining in the foundational doctrines of soteriology and not pressing on to the advanced doctrines, i.e. election, predestination, divine decrees, AC, etc.

When we are called to press up that hill to maturity we will get repulsed, we will suffer defeat at times, but if we don’t quit and keep with doctrine we will eventually capture the hill.

If we press on and don’t quit and keep charging by keeping with doctrine, the enemy, Satan and the KOD will eventually run out of ammunition.

Christ in His humanity knew when to press on offensively and when to rest and recharge His batteries.

Matt 14:23
And after He had sent the multitudes away, He went up to the mountain by Himself to pray; and when it was evening, He was there alone.

When you find yourself on the offensive again remember what you learned while you sat in rest - human good was rejected and so you must reject it!

ISA 64:6
For all of us have become like one who is unclean,
And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment;
And all of us wither like a leaf,
And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

God: “I worked and when I was finished I rested. I rested after restoration of the earth and after the cross [Sabbath]. Any attempt by you to add to it makes Me want to vomit.”

One of the ways that the O.S.N. will try to shatter the believer with self-explosion is through dead works which come from the area of strength of the old sin nature.

Divine good works are the result of learning, understanding and applying divine power therefore they are the result of the spiritual life and never the means.

2CO 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone [Church-age believer] is in Christ [and they are], he is a new creature or spiritual species the old things [position in Adam, spiritual death] have passed away or lost their power; behold, new things have come [the invisible assets plus the PPOG]."

PSA 18:2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

PSA 62:2 He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold;
I shall not be greatly shaken.
PSA 62:7 On God my salvation and my glory rest;
The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.
PSA 71:3 Be Thou to me a rock of habitation, to which I may continually come; Thou hast given commandment to save [deliver] me, For Thou art my rock and my fortress.

PSA 89:26 He will cry to Me, ‘Thou art my Father,
My God, and the rock of my salvation.’

“He will cry to Me, ‘Leave me alone right now Father, I’m busy. I am my god and I will use my human work, and I will attempt to deliver myself.’

PSA 94:22 But the Lord has been my stronghold,
And my God the rock of my refuge.
