Your own place, your personal sense of destiny, and your own country. Part 4.

Wednesday, August 7, 2002

GEN 30:25 “Send me away, that I may go to my own place and to my own country.”

Satan is retreating and has been defeated when in reality he is trying to deceive us into thinking that we have a victory in an area that we really do not have.

MAT 12:44 “Then it says, I will return to my house from which I came; and when it comes, it finds it unoccupied, swept, and put in order.”

You ought to know the distinct beats of the drum, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm and the call; so a Christian soldier must understand the distinct different sounds of the Word of God taught by the pastor-teacher.

ISA 58:1 “Cry loudly, do not hold back; Raise your voice like a trumpet,”

The Christian needs an alarm sounded in his ears when danger is near or an enemy is coming upon him; he needs to recognize the distinct sound of the bugle or the proper doctrine needed at the time.

You have to be a person of courage, bold and determined, not easily discouraged nor dismayed by the threats, malice, or strength of an enemy; so the Christian soldier ought to be courageous, not unassertive or emotional when the pressure gets too great.

JOS 1:7 Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go.

PSA 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for Thou art with me;

PSA 56:4 In God, whose word I praise, In God I have put my trust; I shall not be afraid. What can {mere} man do to me?

PRO 28:1 The wicked flee when no one is pursuing, But the righteous are bold as a lion.

1. The virtue of his calling. Motivation and zeal are given to us when we realize the privilege of fulfilling Gods plan for our life.

ACT 5:41 So they went on their way from the presence of the Council, rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name.

MAT 12:30 “He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters.”

2. Understanding the power and strength of God who has promised to stand by him and help him in all his conflicts even with the worst of his enemies.

1JO 4:4 You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.

3. Understanding his call from God. Every Christian must take the time to learn how to use his time, talent and treasure to glorify God, and to learn what his spiritual gift is.

4. A good conscience.

ACT 23:1 And Paul, looking intently at the Council, said, “Brethren, I have lived my life with a perfectly good conscience before God up to this day.”

1PE 3:15-16, but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.

5. The assurance that he has of victory.

REV 2:10 Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

A soldier must expect to endure hardness and he prepares himself for it, so the Christian soldier must concede to a life attended with many hardships and difficulties if he desires to bring glory to Christ.

1. We must learn to endure the hardship that comes from our personal sins.

2. The Christian soldier must learn to endure the hardship that comes from self-denial.

3. The Christian soldier must learn to endure the hardship from people.

JER 9:8 Their tongue is a deadly arrow; It speaks deceit; With his mouth one speaks peace to his neighbor, But inwardly he sets an ambush for him.

PSA 42:10 As a shattering of my bones, my adversaries revile me, While they say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”

HEB 11:36 and others experienced mocking and scourging, yes, also chains and imprisonment.

ACT 24:5 “For we have found this man a real pest and a fellow who stirs up dissension among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.”

JOH 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, - because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own {nature;} for he is a liar, and the father of lies.

GAL 4:29 But as at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so it is now also.

4. The Christian soldier must learn to endure the hardness from wicked men.
