The Potter and the Clay celebrate the Lord’s Supper.

The principle of the shattered or the broken vessel. Brokenness is definitely a major part of the Cross and the spiritual life.
Our Lord interrupted the Passover supper by instituting and introducing what we now call the Lord’s supper.
Recline
imperfect middle indicative of the verb
anakeimai
anekeito
meaning to recline, to be at rest,
used for a person lying as a corpse.
This word for “reclining” reveals our Lord’s perfect peace and rest as He was getting ready to face unimaginable sufferings and abuse from mankind, but more than that, judgment and abandonment from God the Father.
Notice that in verse 22, the other disciples said
“Surely not I, Lord?”
1CO 12:3…no one can say, “Jesus is Lord, [true deity as the God-man, over ]” except by the Holy Spirit.
MAT 26:26, And while they were eating, Jesus took {some} bread, and after a blessing, He broke {it} and gave {it} to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”
The brokenness of the physical body of Jesus Christ as a broken vessel is the issue at hand. The taking of the bread refers to our Lord taking upon Himself true humanity.
JOH 6:35, Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me shall not hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.”
JOH 6:47, “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.”
MAT 26:26, And while they were eating, Jesus took {some} bread, and after a blessing,
The blessing refers to His acknowledgment and gratitude of becoming a member of the human race to fulfill the Father’s plan.
HEB 10:5, Therefore, when He comes into the world, He says, “Sacrifice and offering Thou hast not desired, But a body Thou hast prepared for Me;”
HEB 12:2, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
MAT 26:26, And while they were eating, Jesus took {some} bread, and after a blessing, He broke it.
Our Lord broke the bread. Because He didn’t receive brokenness, He chose brokenness.
JOH 10:17-18, “For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. “No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father.”
We don’t receive brokenness, we choose to be broken.
PHI 2:5-8, Keep on thinking this [doctrine] within yourselves which was also resident in Christ Jesus, who, although He preexisted in the essence of God, did not think equality with God a gain to be seized, but He deprived Himself of the proper function of deity when He had received the form of a servant and was born in the likeness of men. In fact, although having being discovered in outward appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of spiritual death, that is the death of the cross.
MAT 26:26, the first thing our Lord did was become a member of the human race, And while they were eating, Jesus took {some} bread,
Then, next, He thanked God the Father for the privilege of going to the cross, and after a blessing,
GAL 1:4 who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us out of this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
EPH 5:2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you, and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.
Then next He gave {it} to the disciples,
MAT 26:26, And while they were eating, Jesus took {some} bread, and after a blessing, He broke {it} and gave {it} to the disciples, He gave them His body which has been broken through the Cross.
You see, all throughout the Gospels, our Lord offered them the means of brokenness revealed by the commands and instructions
concerning their very own cross to bear.
MAT 10:38, “And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.”
MAR 8:34, And He summoned the multitude with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.”
LUK 9:23, And He was saying to {them} all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
The Cross is a part of God’s plan as the Potter molding the clay into a vessel of honor.
PHI 1:29, Because to you it has been graciously given with reference concerning Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer on behalf of Him,
Prin -There is no fellowship between the Potter and the vessel unless there is obedience of the clay towards the potter’s wheel.
Second prin – There is no fellowship with the bread of life unless there is brokenness on the part of the vessel.
The wheel is the plan of God for the human race and it runs upon the axle of the righteousness and justice and faithfulness of God.
HEB 1:3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power.
COL 1:16-18, For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities–all things have been created by Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the first-born from the dead; so that He Himself might come to have first place in everything.
ISA 46:8-11, Remember this, and be assured; Recall it to mind, you transgressors. “Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other; {I am} God, and there is no one like Me,” Declaring the end from the beginning And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, ‘My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure.’ Calling a bird of prey from the east, The man of My purpose from a far country. Truly I have spoken; truly I will bring it to pass. I have planned {it, surely} I will do it.”
This means that nothing in the plan of God runs on human power or human ability or human works.
The wheel is God’s plan or God’s decree which has existed from eternity past. The wheel of God’s plan keeps rolling on no matter what.
Because of the angelic conflict, God has designed His plan so that the wheel of the Christian life must turn or spin on the axle of the individual’s choice.
JER 18:3, uses the analogy of the wheel as a type that represents the workings of God wherein He molds and shapes either a person or a nation into the kind of vessel He desires.
