ROM 5:5
and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

It is only by means of the filling of the HS that you can love like this in any way. Human power can’t even come close.

In the Millennium the Holy Spirit is also given. Joel 2:28,29 tells us that the filling of the Spirit in the Millennium is characterised by ecstatics. Ecstatics is not spirituality in the Church Age.

A salvation invitation is issued because you cannot have the crown apart from the cross and because God’s plan always begins at the cross.

If any man will do his will; if any man thirst. Both of these passages begin with the word “if,” and in both cases “if” is a 3rd class condition, recognising human volition.

If any person at the point of God-consciousness any person goes on positive signals, i.e. he desires relationship with God, God will provide pertinent information for that individual.

This information will be provided in spite of geographical barriers, linguistic isolation, or any other situation that might exist. John 7:17; Acts 17:27; Jeremiah 29:13; John 6:44.

ISA 12:3
Therefore you will joyously draw water
From the springs of salvation.

There is no pitcher today, but, “If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.”

There were thousands of people in that crowd who had gone on positive volition and now they were ready for gospel hearing.

Since Christ died for everyone, therefore everyone can drink in the Gospel and be saved.

Drinking is used as the analogy to faith in the Gospel because drinking is non-meritorious.

We have here a recognition of the inspiration of the NT canon.

The apostle clarifies for us what exactly Christ means, and that is the indwelling Holy Spirit which sets up headquarters in the believers body so that He may control the soul.

The indwelling Holy Spirit is to produce the character of Christ in the believer with PVTD – love, joy, peace, etc.

GAL 5:16
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.

GAL 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

John 15:8
By this is My Father glorified, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.

The positive believer inculcates his soul with BD daily and is sensitive to the F/HS daily, and therefore this amazing power that has been poured into us is transformed by the Spirit into a river of application to life and circumstances.

The clarification is that Christ’s message on the last day of the last feast is a prophecy concerning the ministry of God the HS in the Church-age.

Grace Bible Church
Basic Training in Doctrine

Israel’s rejection of her Messiah does not mean that Jesus Christ’s mission on earth ended in failure. He postponed the earthly kingdom of God and initiated a second ministry – the Church.

To a degree never before witnessed in human history, the Church Age demonstrates God’s magnificent grace and infinite power.

The principle again is that God’s plan is going to go on and His promises are going to be fulfilled no matter what opposes Him.

Just like the Father sent Him so does He send us into this world and just like the Father had a plan for Him so does the Father have a plan for us.

Christ was willing to submit His will to the Father’s plan and that is the first great step of genuine humility.

After His ascension the human race will not be able to go to Him but He leaves something behind that is really important – Bible doctrine.

There is a double meaning to, “and where I am, you cannot come” – they are going to seek entrance to heaven on the basis of their human good, but human good is rejected by God, Isaiah 64:6.

Jesus is not going to fulfil this bit of sarcasm by going to the Greeks, but there is someone who is going to. This is a prophetic description of the ministry of the apostle Paul.

There are two dispensations in which the Holy Spirit is given. The Holy Spirit is given to all believers in the Church Age.

Since Jesus Christ is absent from the earth at the right hand of the Father the purpose of the indwelling Holy Spirit is to produce the character of Christ. So the filling of the Holy Spirit produces the character of Christ – love, joy, peace, etc.
