The last prophecy of verse 24.....and to anoint the most holy place.
That phrase "to anoint the most Holy Place" has to do with our subject this morning which reveals the importance of what the Holy Spirit's Place is and what the word anoint means.
It is the Hebrew verb mashach (maw-shakh') meaning to anoint; "to set someone apart for a special function; to fulfill the work of the Lord, to train and teach the one who is the anointed one.
And then "the most Holy place" has to deal with the literal Temple that will be built when our Lord comes back for the second time.
However, we have been noting that the Lord anointing the most holy place in the future is really nothing more or nothing new then what
He has been doing all along now in the Church ever since Pentecost or the day when the Church-age began.
For the Word of God teaches us, Church-age believers, that WE are the most Holy Place that is around today and that we have been given the anointing or the power of God the Holy Spirit who has made our body a Holy Temple for TLJC to indwell.
And so we have been noting that the anointing refers to the presence of God the Holy Spirit inside of our human body, which is the most Holy place, and that the anointing has to deal with the fact that at the moment of salvation God the Holy Spirit created a spiritual temple in our body for our Lord Jesus Christ to be at home in.
And this brought us to a fantastic subject known as the Doctrine of the Shekinah Glory.
Namely, it was the mystery doctrine of the Church-age for remember in COL 1:26 Paul said that the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations; has now been manifested to His saints,
For Daniel knew DEU 29:29 "The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law.
The real issue however is that in our passage DAN 9:24 is that the Anointing of the most holy place deals not so much with the literal anointing of the temple but really the spiritual meaning which is the anointing of the believer.
Always remember that "to anoint" = refers to the power of the Holy Spirit within; and then "the most holy place which refers to your body.
"Shekinah" is derived from the Hebrew noun SHAKAN, meaning to dwell. It refers to the fact that Jesus Christ indwelt certain sacred buildings in Israel.
Shekinah was coined by the Rabbis who developed the technical word to speak of God as dwelling among His people.
Shekinah was used to express the invisible presence of God with Israel.
On the other hand, Glory" was the Hebrew Biblical word KABODH, used for the visible manifestations of Jesus Christ in the New Testament revealed by the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
So, Shekinah itself represents the invisibility of Christ, the God of Israel, actually indwelling three sacred buildings during the age of Israel: the Tabernacle, Solomon's Temple, and Zerubbabel's Temple.
Glory represented the visible manifestation such as the clouds in the air and the pillar of fire at night in a Theophany form.
However, what I really desire you to understand the spiritual application that is offered for you all to see is that you possess a vessel known as your physical body which is called the temple of God which is the glory of God but within you is also TLJC who is known as the Shekinah within.
The Shekinah = the indwelling of TLJC.The Glory = the human body which is a temple of God.
You could look like a Super-Stud or a Beautiful Babe.....but if you do not perform as a Royal Ambassador should, then you are what the apostle Paul says in 1CO 13:1 a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal, or a creaking of a rusty gate; (MB).
1. Shekinah = indwelling invisibility of Christ in us.2. Glory = the manifestation of TLJC by means of bearing fruit.
Shekinah refers to the indwelling of Christ whereas glory refers to the manifestation of that indwelling by means of fulfilling passages like
EPH 2:10 we have been created in Christ Jesus for the purpose of performing good works.
So, the point is that just like God will anoint the most place or the Holy Temple when the Millennial reign begins, today God anoints all His spiritual Temples who are the body of Christ, every Church-age believer.
The anointing refers to the indwelling of the HS as Christ living in us and through us. The most holy place or the Temple refers to our Body.
1. Our first application is found in MAT 12:6 when our Lord said to the Pharisees, "But I say to you, that something greater than the temple is here.
Here it refers to TLJC because He was the first human Temple of God ever to walk the face of this earth.
In fact in JOH 1:14, the apostle John writes " And the Word became flesh, and tabernacled among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth"
And so, you and I are in union with TLJC and we are the spiritual Temple or spiritual Tabernacle that is greater than the Jewish temple that is mentioned in this passage.
2. Our Lord rebuked those in the Jewish Temple who were buying and selling things in the temple which they were turning into a Flea Market, MAT 21:12.
However, even more than that, as I mentioned Friday evening, don't sell out, don't your body to the things of the world or the cosmic system.
3. Then we noted in MAT 21:12-14, the Temple of our Lord or His body which is our physical body should never be sold; - As a Temple of God, You don't sell out or compromise your biblical standards.
Notice that those who needed healing came to the Temple which you are today .....so it means that God desires you to live as a believer who is always ready to help those who are hurt.
1TH 5:14 And we urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with all men.
4. As the Temple of our Lord, we should never be hypocritical; MAT 23:16-18.
They were actually saying if you make a vow by saying "I swear by the Temple" that is really not a legitimate vow. But if you make a vow by saying "I swear by the gold in temple" then the vow becomes a legitimate vow.
The Pharisees always made an issue out of money and here TLJC is revealing their hypocrisy of using religion as a cover for their love for money.
5. Our fifth analogy is that The Temple was where our Lord taught and therefore as the Temple of our Lord we should always be ready to teach those who desire to learn.
As Jesus Christ dwells within you, He desires to use you and direct you as a the Temple that He speaks through today.
As a walking Temple of God you should 2CO 5:7 Walk by faith, not by sight‑‑
And as a walking Temple of God, you should walk in newness of life, ROM 6:4
As a walking Temple of God you should GAL 5:16 Walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. As a walking
Temple of God you should EPH 4:1 Walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called.
As a walking Temple of God you should walk in love, just as Christ also loved you, and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.
As a walking Temple of God you should EPH 5:15 be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise,
As a walking Temple of God you should COL 1:10 walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
As a walking Temple of God you should 1JO 1:7 Walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
So, this passage teaches that when our Lord was in His Temple He had no fear of those who would come and try to seize Him.
As Jesus Christ dwells within us, He desires to use you as the Temple that way, to teach others the word of God.
And the analogy is that no matter what you face today when TLJC dwelt within in His Temple, He had no fear of what man could do.
6. In MAR 11:16, as the Temple of our Lord we should never condone a business in the church, MAR 11:16 and He would not permit anyone to carry goods through the temple.
7. In MAT 27:51, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom which is analogous to our Lord "opening up the veil that separated man from God" in the Jewish temple, so that nothing separate us from Him now because he dwells in the Temple of our body.
This is why we are told in HEB 4:16 Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need.
Where was the Jewish throne of grace? The throne of grace was inside the Temple in the Holy of Holies.
The analogy is that TLJC is inside the temple of your body so by means of faith you can have fellowship with Him.
So, by being a Temple for our Lord to indwell, the ripping of the veil means we can have a face to face fellowship with Him.
Remember, as I have taught you for years, we are always to pray to the Father, in the name of the Son, being filled with the Spirit.......but that's prayer.
As long as we are filled with the Spirit we can talk to the Father, we can talk to the Son and we can even talk to the Spirit whenever we desire, but that's fellowship with them not prayer.
HEB 6:19-20, This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil, Since therefore, brethren, we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh,
8. In LUK 19:47 As there was always opposition and obstacles in the Jewish Temple, there will always be those who try to oppose us and stop our spiritual momentum because we are now the Temple of God.
LUK 19:47 And He was teaching daily in the temple; but the chief priests and the scribes and the leading men among the people were trying to destroy Him,
Under the principle of Satan being an arrogant genius and the fact that he has been around ever since the Church-age began, he knows that all believers in the Church-age is where TLJC now indwells.
Therefore, in the New Testament, Satan and his kingdom of darkness always does the same thing, he is always attacking the people of God who are now the spiritual temple where TLJC indwells now .
This is why he is called in 1PE 5:8 Our adversary, In 1TI 5:14, Satan is called the enemy Accuser of our brethren, REV 12:10.
9. In JOH 2:18-19, the Temple was the place where our Lord taught the doctrine of the resurrection.
Because the Bible says in JAM 2:19 You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder.
Notice you must believe in the doctrine of Resurrection or the fact that you believe that Jesus was raised from the dead and then, and only then, you can be saved.
My Bible says "Whoever" or "Whosoever" can be saved.
The whole point is that when TLJC went to His first wedding feast He was a walking Temple of God and as such, He revealed the importance of believing in the doctrine of Resurrection.
10. The Temple of God was also respected as a place of prayer, so should we be temples gathering together with one another in prayer;
ACT 3:1 Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the ninth hour, the hour of prayer.
The analogy is just as the Temple was used for believers to gather together for prayer, today the Temples of God ought to be doing the same.
You see, one of the most misunderstood principles concerning the doctrine of prayer that I have discovered in the last 35 years is the misconception of numbers and time.
Unless it is a certain particular calling, the average believer ought to spend more time in 2TI 2:15 Study to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth.
Because we are told in PSA 138:2b I give thanks to Thy name for Thy lovingkindness and Thy truth; For Thou hast magnified Your Word according to all Thy name.
JOH 12:47-48m "And if anyone hears My sayings, and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. He who rejects Me, and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.
There is probably no more powerful manifestation of divine power as when the temples of the Church-age, 1CO 6:19, gather together to learn Bible doctrine and also to pray.
MAT 18:19-20, "Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst."
11.The born-again believer, as a temple that TLJC indwells is superior to the earthly temple in ACT 17:24 "The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands;
This points to the superiority of the spiritual temples ( us), over the natural Temple which will elevated and cherished by all of God's people because it will a reminder or a visual aid during the Millennial reign of what God had done in that Temple throughout the dispensation of the Law.
12. As a temple of God, the temple of God should never be used for compromise; 2CO 6:14-18.
13 . Being a Temple of God that God can use as He indwells your body, you will be recognized in the Historical Section called the Pillars of History in the eternal state as the Church-age temple is acknowledged , promoted, and blessed is acknowledged as a winner.
14. Ultimately the real meaning and the whole purpose of the Templeis for glorification of God the Father, God the Son, REV 21:22.
