Recognizing or knowing the new creature as it relates to the Lord's Supper.

Sunday, November 1, 2009

We, not them, are new creatures in Christ who are to have the mind of Christ toward people whether they are saved or not...believer or unbeliever.

JOH 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life."

We are "in Christ" are we are "new creatures or new spiritual species," our attitude is to be one of love toward others, whether they are believers or not.

Verse 17 reveals the confidence we should all have from understanding, believing and applying positional truth and how to orient to the grace of God with the result of loving and caring for others.

In the devil’s world there is a brand new species that has only existed since the resurrection, ascension, and session of our Lord Jesus Christ.

“kaine ktisis”
is translated
"new creature."

It does not mean that you have been repaired or fixed up or restored. It means you have been created a brand new creature.

New creature, 2C0 5:17, but also
MAT 9:17, New wine

The New wine,
New covenant,
Newness of life.

They focus in on whether mixed or unmixed wine should be served.
Whether leavened or unleavened bread should be broken.
Who should be admitted to the feast.
How often it should be prepared and given.

In the Catholic Church, infants were at one time permitted and then forbidden to partake of it.
Since the ninth century, the members of the church could only receive the bread, the cup being reserved to the priesthood.

The real presence was the main controversy between the Church of England and the Church of Rome or the Catholics and the Protestants.

The doctrine of transubstantiation is a Roman Catholic doctrine that the whole substance of the bread and the wine changes into the literal substance of the body and blood of Christ.

A covenant is a disposition or a promise made by one party (God) in favor of another party (man) after salvation.

The Mosaic Law was a covenant of shadows (building, priesthood, sacrifices) because the mediator had not come in the flesh.

The function of the Mosaic Law in the age of Israel was legitimate but not efficacious or strong enough to solve the problems of man’s sins.

The old plan, the Law, was only a hint of the good things to come in the "new" plan. The old plan, "the law plan" was not complete in itself, it couldn’t complete those who followed it. No matter how many sacrifices were offered year after year, they never added up to a complete solution.

God didn’t want sacrifices and offerings year after year, so He prepared a body TLJC for a sacrifice.

A new covenant must exist with historic reality, which means that the first advent of Christ made Him the mediator and qualified Him to be our Savior.

The Mosaic Law didn’t authorize any efficacious sacrifices, they simply pointed to the efficacious sacrifice.

This new covenant to the church is a spiritual legacy to the Royal Family of God and authorizes the Royal Priesthood.

To satisfy the perfect righteousness of God, the justice of God found a way to make us "new creatures" or new spiritual species.

The new covenant applies only to those who are born again and it is God’s grace disposition to the royal family in time and eternity.

COL 1:22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

EPH 5:25-27, Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her; that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she should be holy and blameless.

EPH 1:4 He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him.

JUD 1:24-25 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, {be} glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

2CO 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature;

SOS 4:7 “You are altogether beautiful, my darling, And there is no blemish in you.”

The Lord’s Supper is to be a reminder of the new covenant made to the new creature.

The new covenant to the Church is made in favor of the new creature as a member of the Royal Family.

It authorizes a new universal Priesthood for the Royal Family of God which operates positionally in the Holy of Holies.

HEB 4:16 Draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, to receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Because of the efficacious spiritual death of Christ on the cross, being judged for our sins, represented by the blood or the new wine called the blood of Christ, Because of the impeccable humanity of Christ called His body, represented by the bread, we can experience what ROM 6:4 calls the newness of life.
ROM 6:4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
