Laqach = to seize or snatch.

The land of Canaan is God’s promise land or the place that God wants you to be, where He can bless you beyond your imagination.

Jesus Christ not only controls history by destroying great nations but Jesus Christ controls history by destroying loved ones when loved ones get in the way of God’s plan for the believer or Bible doctrine.

We are all alive courtesy of the grace of God, so if He desires to remove any member of the human race all He has to do is stop His grace.

GAL 4:16 “Have I therefore become your enemy by telling you the truth?”

There is nothing between you and hell but the air; it is only the power and mere pleasure of God that holds you up.

2CO 5:21 For He [God the Father] made Him [God the Son, the one] who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the very righteousness of God by means of Him.

ROM 8:32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

But, you find you are kept out of hell, but do not see the hand of God in it; but look at other things, as the state of your being, your care of your own life, and the means you use for your own preservation.

Your sins and your iniquities makes you as it were heavy as lead, and to tend downwards with great weight and pressure towards hell.

The Bible says the creation groans with you; the creature is made subject to the bondage of your corruption, not willingly.

God’s creatures are, and were, made for men to serve God.

MAT 20:28 for the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.

Were it not for the restraining hand of God, it would immediately burst forth upon you.

The sovereign grace and pleasure of God, for the present, protects you this morning, as of now, from the place that Abraham’s father Terah is now in, otherwise it would come with fury, and your destruction would come like a whirlwind.

A minute after his death, Terah was also in shock when he discovered that his son Abraham was right and that Jehovah Elohim, the Lord God, was truly God and the moon-God that Terah worshipped, Ur (Allah), was nothing more than an idol.

Terah had the opportunity of seeing the failure of his life and the failure of his love toward his family right before his eyes.

Once the soul departs from the body, it is perfectly conscious and it has all the faculties of the soul, but no ability to change anything that happened in the individual’s lifetime.

“Everlasting life” has a beginning but no end, and it means to be in the Lake of Fire where the worm or the conscience does not die.

“Everlasting life” means that after death unbelievers will experience and feel the pain of something similar to fire and everything associated with it.

“Everlasting life” means that they will feel the pain of burning for all eternity because they rejected TLJC as their Savior.

“Everlasting life” means that the unbeliever will go to a place described as a place of torment,
LUK 16:28.

This place is said to be a place where desire is never met, LUK 16:24.

MAT 25:41 Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels;’

Originally prepared for the devil and his angels, we are told that Hell had to be enlarged for those who rejected Christ during their lifetime as their Savior,
ISA 5:13-14.

ISA 5:13-14 Therefore My people go into exile for their lack of knowledge; And their honorable men are famished, And their multitude is parched with thirst. Therefore Sheol [O.T. word for Hell] has enlarged its throat and opened its mouth without measure;

It is a place where the worm [conscience] never dies and the fire is never quenched, MAR 9:44.

1TH 1:10 We are to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, that is Jesus, who delivers us from the wrath to come.

JOH 3:36 “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

Eternal life has no beginning and no end, never has, never will, whereas everlasting life has a beginning and an end, the day of your birth, and then separated from God forever and ever.

1PE 1:25 But the word of the Lord abides forever. “And this is the word which was preached to you.”

Once God gives life, He cannot take it back, or else there would be no free will but just robots as a part of His creation.

It is the Lake (which many believe to be a liquid form of lava) which burns with fire and brimstone, REV 21:8.

(1) A bottomless pit, REV 9:1-2.
(2) Outer darkness, MAT 8:12; 22:13; 25:30.
(3) Fire unquenchable, LUK 3:17; MAT 3:12; MAR 9:43.
(4) Furnace of fire, MAT 13:42,50.
(5) Blackness of darkness,
Jud 13.

MAT 13:42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire; in that place there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

MAR 9:49 “For everyone will be salted with fire.”
2CO 6:2 “Now is the time of acceptance; now is the day of salvation.”
JOH 3:16 whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Your scale of values changes radically when you are up against eternity and death.

ECC 3:11 He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, yet so that man will not find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end.

He also has put within every human being’s heart a curiosity about tomorrow....and about life.......and about life beyond, JOH 1:9.

You are not really ready to handle life, until you are ready to handle death and eternity.

He has also set eternity in their heart = He has set the desire for knowledge of God within the heart of man.

Once you face eternity and death without any fears but with hope and confident expectation, you discover how meaningless materialism really is. Capacity toward life is related to God and the attributes of God, not with people and your relationship with people. Once you face death and understand the reality of death, your concepts change.

Spiritual common sense begins when the reality of death becomes the basis of re-establishing one’s scale of values. MAT 25:40 “Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, {even} the least {of them,} you did it to Me.”

One thing that facing death and eternity does is that it gets rid of the false ambitions. No matter how great the power of life, without God death and eternity is a much greater power.

Spiritual common sense starts when a person, who is very much alive, realizes the reality of death and understands the perspective of death - the fact that he could die at any time. In eternity, time is endless and we have plenty of time for everything because there is no end to it.

Under the plan of grace great adversities become the means of greater blessings.
