The fourth statement deals with His personal anguish and His desire to let us know what He and His Father were going through just for us, MAT 27:45-46.
God was angry at sin, not the sinner, but the principle of sin, for sin separates mankind from God.
HAB 1:13 Your eyes are too pure to approve evil, And You cannot look upon sin.
HEB 8:12 “For I will be merciful to their iniquities, And I will remember their sins no more.” HEB 10:17 “And their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”
DEU 29:29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may observe all the words of these doctrines.
JOB 11:7-8, “Can you discover the depths of God? Can you discover the limits of the Almighty? They are high as the heavens, what can you do? Deeper than Sheol, what can you know?
The point with our Father’s attitude is that though He chose to forsake His Son upon the cross, He did not look upon Him as unworthy of His love.
2CO 5:21 He [God the Father] made Him [TLJC] who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
AMO 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
In His humanity, for the first time, TLJC felt like a man left all alone; not only by His disciples and His friends, but also by His God.
The misery, that mankind will suffer in the eternal state, their world to come, will be self-created misery arising out of the fact that they loved themselves so much that they brought that very eternal sorrow upon themselves.
EPH 4:22 that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,
The pres-pass-part of phtheiro which in the presents tense it means that the old self, the OSN keeps on getting worse and worse in the eternal state.
HEB 9:27 It is appointed for men to die once and after this comes the judgment [Bema or GWT],
2CO 6:1-2, And working together with Him, we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain‑‑ for He says, “At the acceptable time I listened to you, And on the day of salvation I helped you”; Behold, Now is “the acceptable time,” Behold, Now is” the day of salvation “‑‑
One of life’s tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.”
They are so hardened that to be without God, they are incapable of knowing the beauty of a relationship with God from whom they will now be separated forever.
He knew, as no man could ever know, what separation from God meant.
He had lived in it, and there had never been any interruption to it.
Our Lord Jesus Christ had enjoyed the love of God to the fullest so think what it must have been for Him to lose the conscious enjoyment of it.
For the light of His Father’s presence to be taken away from Him, it was, I believe, even worse than His physical sufferings and rejections, especially even from His very own family.
JOH 1:11 He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him.
JOH 7:5 For not even His brothers were believing in Him.
He was rejected by His very own Family, His apostles, His disciples, His friends, His own people, the Jews, the Roman Gentiles, and yet none of this could compare to what He felt by rejection of His God.
Think of the perfect Holy Son of God, fully agreeing with His Father in everything, finding out that the Father had, for good and sufficient reasons, turned away His face from Him.
PSA 22:2 “O My God, I cry out by day [first three hours, 9 AM ‑ 12 noon] and then by night there is no silence for Me [the continued prayer of our Lord during the darkness that surrounded the cross from 12 noon ‑ 3 p.m. when He was being judged for our sins].”
TLJC knew that however things may look, there was no injustice and unfairness with God.
He knows His Father too well to let outward circumstances defame or discredit His character.
Their faith brought them out of it by calling God to the rescue but in the case of our Lord, His perfect faith brought no assistance from Heaven.
He was being crushed for our sins, so that you and I, as royal family of God, could wear the crimson robe of the royal family forever.
The Hebrew word for a worm is “rimmah”, which means a maggot – but the Hebrew word Jesus used here for worm, is TOLA’ATH, which means “Crimson worm” or “Scarlet worm”.
When it is time for the female or mother Crimson worm to have babies (which she does only one time in her life), she finds the trunk of a tree, a wooden fencepost or a stick.
ISA 7:14 “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.
MAT 13:55 “Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brothers, James and Joseph and Simon and Judas and His sisters, are they not all with us?
LUK 1:35 says “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy offspring shall be called the Son of God.”
The King James Bible says it right when it says in LUK 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that HOLY THING which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
HEB 10:5 When He came into the world, He said, “Sacrifice and offering Thou hast not desired, But a body Thou hast prepared for Me;
PSA 22:9-10, Yet Thou art He who didst bring me forth from the womb; Thou didst make me trust {when} upon my mother’s breasts.
PSA 22:10 Upon Thee I was cast from birth; Thou hast been my God from my mother’s womb.
In the case of the Tolar worm, she then attaches her body to that wood and makes a hard crimson shell.
This is so that she is so strongly and permanently stuck to the wood that the shell can never be removed without tearing her body completely apart and killing her.
As the mother Crimson worm dies, she oozes a crimson or scarlet red dye which not only stains the wood she is attached to, but also her young children.
After three days, the dead mother Crimson worm’s body loses its crimson color and turns into a white wax which falls to the ground like snow.
DEU 29:29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may observe all the words of these doctrines.
ISA 1:18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool.
Our Lord must have felt Himself to be comparable to a helpless, powerless, down-trodden worm, passive while crushed and unnoticed and despised by those who walk upon Him.
The only solution was this, Jesus Christ was forsaken of God because we deserved to be forsaken of God.
1PE 3:18 For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, in order that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;
He paid a debt He did not oweI owed a debt I could not payI needed someone to wash my sins away
And now I sing a brand new song Amazing grace all day longChrist Jesus paid a debt that I could never pay.
