We are to speak evil of no one, including unbelievers.

The Ninth Commandment had to do with not speaking against others or not bearing false witness against your neighbor  in a Jewish Court ” and therefore it dealt with the sins of the tongue as well.

It is one thing to speak evil of others but it is totally another thing when “what you say” is determined by Jehovah Elohim (the Lord-God) to be a crime.

Tit 3:2, “we are to speak evil of no one (including unbelievers.)”

The Message Bible translation  Tit 3:1-2,  Remind the people to respect the government and be law‑abiding, always ready to lend a helping hand. No insults, no fights. God’s people should be bighearted and courteous.

The final commandment, #10,  deals with the mental attitude  sins of jealousy or envy as one enters into the sin of covetousness which resides in a believer’s soul and therefore rejecting any mental attitude sins of the heart.

The Ninth Commandment deals with the tests of the sins of the tongue while the Tenth Commandment deals with the tests of the mental attitude of  believers,  both of which have a negative attitude on the believer’s spiritual life.

Coveting means to have a “longing for something or a strong desire for someone or something that does not belong to you.”

This also includes the “way you think,” and therefore in this final commandment , it is our mental attitude that will be tested.

Our Lord emphasized this principle of the mental attitude by teaching His followers that not only is it a sin to touch a woman sexually but it is also a sin if we lust or think about it in that realm as well.

The carnal believer may not touch a woman physically but even if all you do is to lust after her in your heart, then you have sinned mentally before the Lord.

Prin: Ccoveting produces actions and usually it is the action to take something without permission or even to go so far that in some cases, they end up as a thief themselves stealing what others have.

I cannot stress this point is that if you are not content with what the Lord has given you now, whether you have a lot or  a little, then you are not living the spiritual life.

If you’re lusting after something or someone, you’re saying in effect “I am not content with what the Lord has given to me.”

Coveting what others have also can reveal your lack of gratitude and thankfulness for that which the Lord has given you.

We also seem to forget that humbling attitude concerning what we have and who we are and how all things are gifts from the Lord.

We are still studying  a principle which answers “Why the wicked  prosper” while the adult believer doesn’t  seem to enjoy what God has given them.”

He means that we should not be fool enough to feed the old self that is in you.

Don’t even put your flesh in a position where you know it will become stimulated or excited in the realm of carnality.

If experience teaches you that certain people bring out your sin nature or have a bad influence upon you, avoid them.

In 2TI 3:5, the apostle Paul says in 2TI 3:5  holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; and avoid such men as these.

Rom 13:14, Make no provision for the flesh!

Job 31:7, Job says  “If my step has turned from the way” it’s because his heart walked after his eyes.

Note that your heart goes after your eyes!

The point here is that the eyes of the soul reveals the perception of the individual who because of having the right mental attitude of the soul, can glorify the Lord.

In Pro 4:25, we have the answers needed to deal with the distractions that come the believers way;    Let your eyes look directly ahead, And let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you.

This means that if there is something that is enticing to you or inviting to you, do not even look at it.

Make a covenant with your eyes!

You don’t just pray about it!
You stop looking!

Keep your eyes from things that are likely to entice you or attract you.

What we really need to understand is how to put to death or mortify our flesh……that is a biblical truth.

Look at Rom 8:13   For if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

You have got to do it!
You can’t pray for it to be done!

Psalm 73 describes some of the frustrations that many believers have had at times as they seek to fulfill the PPOG and their very own PSD.

Once again we see God’s people observing those believers and unbelievers who seem to be prospering.

There’s a frustration that can actually take place because things are not working out in your life the way you and I thought they would,  and then we see and observe how the wicked prosper in spite of their wickedness.

Many individuals are not blessed by the Lord because they lack the capacity to receive the divine blessings from the Lord.

We all need to remind ourselves of a principle of doctrine that we see constantly which is the fact that the Lord is blessing us with a gift not with a payment for serving Him.

Continuing now in Psa 73,  a long Psalm but very easy to adjust to in the spiritual life.

Psalm 73, we have a Psalm that describes some of the frustrations that many believers have had at times as they seek to fulfill the PPOG and their very own PSD.

They make positive decisions regarding their relationship with God and then they see friends, family members and relatives making negative decisions, getting ahead in life, and even receiving prosperity as they rebel against the PPOG for their life.

There’s a frustration that can actually take place because things are not working out in your life the way you and I thought they would,  and then we see and observe how the wicked prosper in spite of their wickedness.

We all need to remind ourselves of a principle of doctrine that we see constantly which is the fact that the Lord is blessing us with a gift not with a payment for serving Him.

The relationship between   Commandment #9 which had to do with the our study of “not bearing false witness against your neighbor” and Commandment #10, which reveals “the testing  of the mental attitude sin of covetousness.

Covetousness  refers  to “the rebellion of those believers who desire what others have and which is manifested and motivated by envy and jealousy which resides in a believer’s soul and therefore rejecting any mental attitude sins of the soul or heart.

Ninth Commandment = Tests of the sins of the tongue
Tenth Commandment  =  Tests of the mental attitude

The Ninth Commandment basically dealt with the tests of the sins of the tongue while the Tenth Commandment deals with the tests of the mental attitude or the way believers think.

There’s a frustration that can actually take place because things are not working out in your life the way you and I thought they would,  and then we see and observe how the wicked prosper in spite of their wickedness.

Notice when God gives to us,  He does so as a gift not as a reward or a payment.

JAM 1:17   Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation, or shifting shadow.

Speaking about ROM 3:24  being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus;

Asaph was one of the finest and chief musicians in all of Israel.

It’s interesting how the Lord gave certain tribes the talent and the ability to either be blessed with fantastic vocal chords,  or with the ability to write music and lyrics as well as the ability and talent to play a musical instrument.

He wrote about ten songs and so this is said to be a Psalm or a Song of Asaph, a fine and chief musician in Israel.

Now, this type of thinking that “God is good to His people,” is very important especially when you’re going through something and you don’t know how that situation is going to turn out.

He almost fell and slipped because he had become jealous and envied the prosperity of the wicked.

Prin: Jealousy, like many of the other mental attitude sins can produce physical sickness as well as mental disorder.

PRO 14:30  A tranquil heart is life to the body, But jealousy is rottenness to the bones.

Note that there are certain people who prosper even though they are wicked.

He saw what they had right now, but he forgot their future.

He saw what God had given them.

For example, God in His Grace actually will allow the wicked to prosper on this earth.

However, once they die, billions and billions of years they suffer in the eternal lake of fire and so in God’s grace, He blesses them and let’s them have some enjoyment, because He’s a just and righteous God.

And therefore in MAT 5:45b  He causes His sun to rise on {the} evil and {the} good,

So, there are reverisionistic believers and unbelievers who cheat and lie and steal and who are criminals and who would do what they can to get ahead and they can get more than you.

He saw their outward display of prosperity— He saw what they had.

A New car, new home, better job, fine clothing, no problems with the finances, everything is going right.

You look at what they have but you only see their outward display.

However, as we are told in 1SA 16:7b  God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

You see, we do not see the discomfort and lack of contentment in their soul.

You don’t see when they go to sleep at night that they have all these riches and all these things and all this form of prosperity, but there’s something missing in their soul.

They don’t have that peace that goes beyond understanding, Phi 4:6.

You would be shocked at how fast you would say, “I want to come back to my life, I don’t want to trade places with them.”

Many people think, “If you have money and prosperity all of their   problems are solved and that’s not true.”

And when it says in verse 4 that “their body is fat.” It means that their strength was from their riches and they were really healthy.

In the ancient world, prosperity was manifested by the strength of the human body being healthy and prosperous through the physical body.

Remember that this is the thinking of the individual who almost slipped because of the envy and jealousy which led him to coveting.

He is saying “There’s no pain from their death like there is with others who are dying.”

This is a false truth because no one really knows what truly happens when an individual is in the dying stage of their life as well as the time and the manner of our death.

For we read in PSA 68:20   God is to us a God of deliverances; And to God the Lord belong escapes from death.

And not only that but I also want you to remember that death is a major victory of the winner believer; 1Co 15:50-58.

Also remember ISA 57:1   The righteous man perishes, and no man takes it to heart; And devout men are taken away, while no one understands. For the righteous man is taken away from evil,

You always need to remind yourself of something, you have something in your soul that money cannot buy, a peace that you can go through a tragedy, disaster, sickness, and still say, “I have learned to be content in whatever state I am in.”

Remember again that this is the thinking of the individual that almost totally slipped away from that which was important, the plan of God.

There are some things about the wicked who prosper or people who have riches — They don’t have to be concerned about where their next meal is going to come from.

In other words, they wear their own pride and their own violence as jewelry and they want everyone to see “Look what I’ve got.

When it says, “Their hearts run riot” it refers to fact whatever their heart wants, they get, because of their riches.

Solomon said this in ECC 2:10  And all that my eyes desired I did not refuse them. I did not withhold my heart from any pleasure,

He was the most miserable person in the world at this time and he said, “All that my eyes desired, I did not refuse them.”
