2TI 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear or being timid, but of power and love and discipline.
1JO 4:4 You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
GAL 5:1 It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.
GAL 5:13 For you were called to freedom, brethren; only {do} not {turn} your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
Three reasons:
1. Blood - dealt with their sin.
2. Word of God became their testimony.
3. They did not love their life even to the point of death.
PHI 1:21 For me, living is Christ, likewise dying is profit.
ROM 8:31-33 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies;
Elpis = absolute confidence with regard to this life and the future.
If we have hope it is like a goblet, and the hope always demands filling.
The fillings are the blessings.
“All joy” - chara = +H, God’s happiness.
The first thing that God pours into our goblet of hope which gives us confidence is His happiness.
“And peace” - eirene = “prosperity” both inner and overt.
ROM 15:13 “in believing” - en + pres-act-inf - pisteuo = “by means of believing.”
Abound - perisseuo = to abound, to overflow, to be extremely rich in, to excel in, to be prominent in.
“In hope” - preposition en + locative of elpis =
this is not hope in the sense of uncertainty but hope in the sense of absolute confidence and assurance with regard to a future event.
1CO 12:26 And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.
MAT 25:40 “Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, {even} the least {of them,} you did it to Me.â€
EPH 4:11-12 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;
During the NE Bible conference, the emphasis was upon the principle of taking care of your own vineyard first before you try to help others take care of theirs.
SOS 1:6 “Do not stare at me because I am swarthy [or burnt out], For the sun [the pressures of life] has burned me. My mother’s sons were angry with me; They made me caretaker of the vineyards, {But} I have not taken care of my own vineyard.â€
The freedom found in Eph 5, as a result of being filled with the Spirit.
This is a command in the Greek and then we have participle verbs which followed producing a result clause referring to the “results of being filled.”
When we fall in love with the Lord the commands given to us in the Bible become requests from our best friend, TLJC.
ACT 20:35 “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
“The Spirit in the Sky” reminded us of the principle of the triangle found everywhere in the scripture always pointing to one major doctrine, UNITY.
ROM 15:17 “boasting in things pertaining to God.”
We know and have confidence that we are all what we are because of Him, 1CO 15:10.
“The Spirit in the Sky” reminded me of the tremendous insight that my Mentor, God the Holy Spirit revealed to me concerning the doctrine of right-man - right-woman in a more understandable way.
With this new insight they could apply DEU 23:5, GEN 50:20.
We also studied the right we had to fellowship with each member of the Trinity, resulting in a closer and more intimate relationship for many of us with God.
Then there was the liberty and freedom concerning the doctrine of prayer, that the question was not the quantity of time with excessive words in prayer, but the quality of our times and our words in prayer.
MAT 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth;”
MAT 5:14 “You are the light of the world.”
1CO 1:26-29 For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised, God has chosen, the things that are not, that He might nullify the things that are, that no man should boast before God.
They were legitimate tears like our Lord experienced in JOH 11:35, and the apostle Paul experienced throughout his ministry.
MAT 10:42 “And whoever in the name of a disciple gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water to drink, truly I say to you he shall not lose his reward.”
MAR 10:29-31 “Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms, for My sake and for the gospel’s sake, but that he shall receive a hundred times as much now in the present age, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and farms, along with persecutions; and in the age to come, eternal life. But many {who are} first, will be last; and the last, first.â€
Paul said that he boasted about his churches in 2CO 9:3.
