Spiritual Analogies, Part 1.
Wednesday, January 13, 2010
HEB 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things that you have: for He has said, [promised in past and it keeps on being a promise for all of time] I will never (ouk may) leave thee, nor forsake (enkatatatos) thee.
COL 1:16-17 For by means of Him [in context Jesus Christ] were all [paz] things created [ktizo: the word can mean to completely change or transform something, or to create from no pre-existing materials here the later is used] in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible [this is the unseen spirit world but also we can draw the conclusion that is means down to the smallest atom], whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers
[therefore both the spiritual and natural world]—all [paz] things were created [ktizo] through Him [dia: He was the One who did it again Jesus Christ] and for Him [eis: indicating purpose]. And He [Jesus Christ] has existed eternally before all things [the angelic race and the universe], and by means of Him [Jesus Christ] all things hold together [to stand together with; to join parts together into a whole].
Who is man that He (God) should even care.
PSA 147:4 He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them.
He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world
MAT 10:29 -31, are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.
“grace and peace be multiplied onto you.”
God doesn’t add grace, He multiplies it.
Delight ourselves in the Lord; And He will give us the desires of our heart.
HEB 4:12-16 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do [or answer to in the end]. Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. [And then the comfort].
For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
JOH 3:16-17, For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.
EPH 4:14, As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;
God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
God chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him.
He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself,
In Him (Jesus Christ) we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.
We see that we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will,
In Him (Jesus Christ) we have salvation, we were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance,
We have the surpassing greatness of His power.
He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.
He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church,
It is by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Here we are also told that we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
We have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
He is our peace, who broke down the barrier of the dividing wall,
We are no longer strangers and aliens, but we are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone,
We share with Paul that when we read the scriptures, we can understand insight into the mystery of Christ, which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit; the unfathomable riches of Christ,
We are told that in Christ we have boldness and confident access through faith (learned doctrine) in Him, because we now have and know of the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that we may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
Here is where we are told /Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever.
Here is where we are told He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints. (the spiritual gifts)
we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;
HEB 6:13-19, For when God made the promise to Abraham, since He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, saying, “I will surely bless you and I will surely multiply you.” And so, having patiently waited, he obtained the promise.
For men swear by one greater than themselves, and with them an oath given as confirmation is an end of every dispute. In the same way God, desiring even more to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His purpose, interposed with an oath, so that by two
unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie,
we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope [confidence] set before us. This hope we have
as an anchor of the soul,
a hope [confidence] both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil,
Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!
