In verse 2, we have some opposition to the Father’s plan from the chief opponent among all fallen angels and the greatest genius among creatures was there.
Through EPH 6:16, the devil can throw the flaming missiles of the evil one at any one of us but he can only penetrate our mind, to get inside the heart can only be accomplished if we let him in by accepting the fiery darts which have been thrown at our mind.
EPH 4:27 and do not give the devil an opportunity. – topon meaning, a room in your soul, a place, a location, or a license or permission to dwell in.
PHI 4:8 From now on, members of the Royal family of God, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure wWhatever personal loves exist, whatever is commendable,
if there is any virtue and if anything worthy of praise, be concentrating on these things.
Since the eleven disciples were born again, Satan couldn’t possess them.
Here is man at the last supper who was not “demon possessed”, but worse, like very few have ever been, he was “Satan possessed,” which means by Satan himself.
We know that there was the serpent in the Garden of Eden who was already possessed by Satan, in GEN 3:1-5.
We also know that the king of Tyre was literally possessed by Satan according to Eze 28.
If we had perfect body with perfect brains, perfect beauty in a perfect environment, we would be happy.
Because people who have all of these things or part of these things, always want something else.
Do you know what they usually think is missing? POWER!
They want approbation! They want to be recognized.
They will do so at the expanse of putting down and trying to destroy the very ones who tried to help them all their lives. They are often cowards who backbite, slander, gossip and malign anyone who they are secretly jealous of.
Lucifer or Satan was the Messiah’s personal angel. Joseph’s brothers sold Joseph into slavery.
Korah, the cousin of Moses, betrayed Moses. Absalom was the son of David. Judas was close to TLJC.
In a betrayal never be shocked at those involved. This is one of the ways that the betrayal has some credibility and believability.
By propaganda I mean distortion, lies, rumors, and indoctrination or garbage in the soul.
Satan had beauty and brains from the start of his life and he also had authority being the anointed cherub or the Messiah’s angel……but he got tired of being SECOND in charge.
Like the woman in the Garden, Satan started yawning in perfect environment.
He had everything except God’s power and that’s what he wanted.
Arrogance promotes ambition, today we call that inordinate ambition.
By the way, this is why the first sin mentioned in God’s top seven is arrogance, the sin of Satan.
Arrogance is found in tremendous measure among born again believers.
Many of them are so busy cleaning up the devil’s world, they don’t know a thing about the angelic conflict and why they are here.
They want everyone to get involved!
Get involved with what? Whitewashing the devil’s world.
“I can do a better job of the universe than God can!”
“Vote for me angels and I’ll give you a better universe!”
The lust for power is simply much more than having the ability to manipulate people.
The arrogance part which starts it all says “look at me!” It is pre-occupation with self.
Satan says “Look at me, I’m beautiful….”
“Look at me I’m smarter than anyone else….”
“My talent and ability is being over-looked by the leadership!”
Arrogance is a desire for recognition.
The adorning with jewels suggests his great importance and the glory of his appearance.
Even in the Garden of Eden, his name nahash, translated “serpent,” means “the shining one.”
The Apostle Paul even states that even till this day, he is now transformed into an angel of light, 2CO 11:14.
2CO 11:14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
(a) In the high priest’s breastplate as a manifestation of divine grace giving then guidance through Urim and Thummin.
The priest carried in his breastplate two sticks or stones, one white and the other black, that would give a yes or no answer to a specific question.
Should Israel be preparing for battle, they would somehow shake or toss the sticks or stones and if they turned up black the Israelites would not go to battle, and if they turned up white they would proceed into battle with the knowledge that they were in the will of God.
(b) The stones mentioned in Eze 28, which Satan possessed are also found in the New Jerusalem, which reflects the glory of God.
(c) The covering of this great angel, which signalizes the highest of all creation.
the workmanship of your settings and sockets refers to the fact that he did not need an instrument to praise and glorify God, he was given a built-in Royal crown of praise to praise to his Creator.
The word anointed means the Messiah’s angel. Satan was in the throne room of God.
The Holy mountain of God is the place of His presence in visible glory, where His High Priest would stand before Him to minister, EXO 4:27, PSA 2:6.
Satan’s presence on the holy mountain would indicate his enjoyment of the full Cherubic privilege of nearness to the throne of God.
The cherubim were the group of angels related to the throne of God as protectors and defenders of His holiness.
Do not be surprised when you run into someone who is suppose to protect and defend the authority over them but instead attacks it and discredits it, it started with their father the devil.
John the apostle said it when he called Christians under the thinking of Satan, sons [teknons] of the devil, 1JO 3:10.
The phrase the abundance of your trade refers to his genius plans.
This is why when Satan sinned one third of the angelic creatures went with him, he had plans for them.
Rekullah – slander, it means to go about in order to traffic something against someone, or to slander, or to try and destroy someone’s reputation by trafficking gossip and slander. PRO 8:13 “Respect for the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way, And the perverted mouth, I hate.”
ISA 13:11 Thus I will punish the world for its evil, And the wicked for their iniquity; I will also put an end to the arrogance of the proud,
So we are now ready for the third biblical illustration which is Judas Iscariot in our passage in Joh 13.
As Christians, we are all acquainted with the Holy Trinity-The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.
As God and Christ are one, JOH 10:30, so are Satan and the antichrist. The antichrist will only desire to do the will of Satan the father of all lies.
The first two members of the unholy Trinity, are Satan and the antichrist which are analogous to God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
There is the false prophet who will complete the unholy Trinity, like the Holy Spirit, who compels men to Christ, the false prophets compels those of the earth to follow and worship the beast.
Satan represents the Father in unholy Trinity. JOH 8:44. The antichrist represents the counterfeit Christ.
What is interesting to note is that the Antichrist will have a partner that works with him in carrying out his diabolical plans. The Bible refers to this partner as The False Prophet.
The False Prophet is a very interesting character in that not much information is provided about him.
The Bible does tell us that the False Prophet will rise up in the end times or last days and play an important role in having mankind to worship the Antichrist.
Just as the Holy Spirit is responsible for calling men to worship God, the False Prophet will be responsible for calling men to worship the Antichrist during the Tribulation period.
In the end times, as with so many other things, Satan will once again try to counterfeit the things God has declared that he will do.
Just as there is a Holy Trinity of God the Father, Jesus Christ as the Son, and the Holy Spirit we will find that Satan has devised his own satanic trinity for the last days.
This satanic trinity will include Satan playing the role of God, the Antichrist playing the role of the Son, and the False Prophet playing the role of the Holy Spirit.
The False Prophet will play a pivotal role in getting mankind to worship the Antichrist and will receive power from the Antichrist who will be indwelt by Satan.
In this sense, Satan will mimic the Holy Trinity with his own unholy version.
In Christianity, there is an “Unholy Trinity” composed of Satan, the Antichrist, and the False Prophet.
“having put” is a perf-act-part, beblekotos meaning to throw or to cast.
“betray Him” is an aor-act-subj, parado, which is translated to betray and indicates the devil’s self‑proclaimed purpose when he entered the room.
The devil’s objective was to help the Sanhedrin and the chief priests to accomplish their policy to stone the Lord Jesus Christ and kill Him.
What better way to frustrate the cross then to turn the Lord over to the Sanhedrin and chief priests so they could have a quick trial and then stone Him to death.
It would be impossible for Jesus Christ to bear the sins of the world while He was bearing the weight of stones dying physically.
The devil’s objective was to get Jesus to die physically…but not spiritually.
The only way that he could do this was to give Him over to the Jews because the Jews always put someone under a rock pile, and they’d stone them to death.
The objective of Satan is to get Judas to betray the Lord so that he can haul Jesus into the Sanhedrin and stone Him to death and just die physically.
What the devil was afraid of, because He knows Theology better than most, he is afraid that somehow Jesus will get on that cross where He will bear the sins of the world and die spiritually.
ROM 6:23 For the wages of sin is [spiritual] death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The day that Adam ate the fruit, that’s the day Adam would die. He lived physically over 930 years after that according toGEN 5:3.
Satan has accomplished this, not by stopping the Lord from dying on the cross but through blinding believer’s from the difference between spiritual death and physical death.
“had given” is the aor-act-ind, edoken correctly translated “had given.
In eternity past He knew every problem you would ever have and made a provision for you, in time, way back in eternity past, for you to be able to handle your problems.
Then He did another very interesting thing…He put it all down in writing.
