What does it take to follow the Messiah, and HIS finished work on the Cross.
First and foremost it takes a sinner. For only sinners are eligible.
Yes, you must be a sinner to follow the LORD’s work on the Cross.
A relationship between the Savior and the Sinner.
LUK 5:32, I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
This exchange is recorded in MAR and MAT as well.
Satan was saying this is what GOD said: “You shall not eat from any tree of the Garden.”
Paul wrote in his letter to the Ephesians: Do not give the devil an opportunity.
If Adam knew about this serpent that could talk, that was certainly something he should have been concerned about.
Now comes the enticement, Satan always has an enticement, pleasure,
pride, worldly knowledge, here it is you can be like GOD knowing good and evil.
A tree played a role, in the fall of man. Then for operation fig leaf.
In the attempt to hide the man and the woman from the LORD.
A tree was the reason man had to be expelled from the Garden.
A tree was involved in the solution to the whole thing. That solution was the finished work of Jesus Christ the Messiah on the Cross.
So, they both admitted their actions but blamed others for it. How many times do we do that? All of those defense mechanisms we use.
Point is that this is Satan that the LORD is speaking to. So, dust you will eat all the days of your life is a reference to Satan and the degradation of his once higher stature as the personal Angel to the LORD.
Theologians call this verse the proto evangelium–which means the first Gospel message.
“And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise him on the heel.”
And
JOH 3:16, “For GOD so loved the world that HE gave His only Son so that whoever believes in HIM will have eternal life with HIM.”
To the woman HE said, “I will greatly multiply Your pain in childbirth. In pain you will bring forth children; Yet your desire will be for your husband, And he will rule over you.”
Boys cannot be girls, and girls cannot be boys.
God created man and woman. We are to pray for these people.
The phrase one of us is actually one word, Echad. The same word is used in GEN 1:5, God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one (echad) day.
GEN 29:20, So Jacob served seven years for Rachel and they seemed to him but a few (echad) days because of his love for her.
The bottom line is that now man had eaten from the Tree of the Knowledge
of good and evil, and as a result they could not be around the Tree of Life.
GOD the Father had the plan, God the Son would carry out the plan, and God the HS would reveal the plan.
The story of the crown of thorns. From Adam, through Abraham, to the LORD Jesus Christ.
Do you know what they got for listening to him (Satan)?
The only useful knowledge they got was the knowledge of their nakedness. That is all that the serpent, that is all the world, the KOD can really give you.
Satan’s promise of godlikeness always ends in disappointment.
The bottom line is that now man had eaten from the Tree of the Knowledge
of good and evil, and as a result they could not be around the Tree of Life.
Man and woman had already disobeyed the LORD so in this fallen state had they eaten from the tree of Life they would have lived in that state forever.
So, the first couple were the first ones to be offered the finished work of Christ on the Cross. WHY?
Because they were now eligible, they were now sinners in need of a Savior.
GOD the Father had the plan, God the Son would carry out the plan, and God the HS would reveal the plan.
On the Cross the seven statements HE made all sealed HIS earthly Ministry and opening the Church-age.
- Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing. Luke 23:34.
Forgiveness…
2. Today you will be with me in paradise.
Luke 23:43 was said to a sinner who had believed in HIM as the Savior minutes or hours before he died. - Behold your son: behold your mother. HIS humanity on earth was ending, but HE had lived with man as a man. HE experienced the pain and way more than man did or would or could. But now HE was ready to join the Father. Yet HIS compassion was for Mary HIS earthly mother.
- My God, My God, why have you forsaken me? The LORD Jesus Christ died the spiritual death so that as believers we will never have to,
HE was forsaken so that we will never be forsaken.
5. I thirst. All of the LORD’s work during HIS earthly Ministry was now completed. - It is finished. Books have been written on this phrase.
There is no definite subject in the verse, it is just IT but not just it, because it lets us recall every aspect of the LORD Jesus Christ.
That cry tetelestai, “it is finished,” was not the gasp of a worn-out life, it was not one of defeat but of course on of victory.
“It is finished,” in the Hebrew was actually the Hebrew word nishlam, which means Paid in full never to be brought up again.
What a love story. And you are one of the main characters, we are because we are the bride of the hero in the story the LORD Jesus Christ.
The veil was about 60 feet tall and 4″ in thickness. The size of the veil would have made it impossible for any human to tear it in two pieces.
The Father made the plan…the Son carried out the plan…and the HS reveals that plan.
