True freedom is submission to grace and not the law.
Wednesday, March 3, 2010
God took us from under the law to live in grace and produce a righteousness which is impossible in a legal relationship.
There was no true union between the people and God. The law was over them and therefore sin reigned and kept them in bondage.
But now, in the dispensation of grace, after Christ’s death, burial, resurrection, ascension, and session there is a sharp contrast in relationship.
1 Peter 1:18-19
knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith.
Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
Therefore being under the authority of grace means using grace provision in order to head off the trends of the old sin nature, whether sin and especially good and evil.
The old sin nature does not sponsor grace. God is the author of grace; God is the user of grace; grace is God’s policy, not the policy of the old sin nature.
There is a lot of animosity towards the doctrine of grace. So many refuse to admit that they are spiritually bankrupt, which has to precede any understanding of grace.
