“do not be afraid” – pres/act/imp; a command to lose the fear immediately.

Being afraid is one of the best ways that Satan has of getting to you and using you.

2 Cor 1:20
For as many as may be the promises of God, in Him they are yes;

Ps 56:3
When I am afraid, I will put my trust in Thee.

2 Tim 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.

And in the midst of our failures, like the failures here of the Lord’s disciples, there is always the principle of grace, PSA 103:10.

Ps 103:10
He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

Peter began to sink when he took his eyes off the Lord. When Peter got out of the boat all he could see was the Lord and he had confidence.

“But seeing the wind”; the wind represents the problems of life and Peter turned his eyes from the Lord and focused his heart on the problem and he sunk.

Peter usually gets ridiculed for sinking, but remember this, he was the only one of the 12 with enough faith to get out of the boat.

Storms (problems) never last forever, they always come to an end and with positive volition become the momentary light afflictions that produce in us eternal weights of glory that are far beyond comparison (2CO 4:17).
