Promise from God
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” John 14:6
Before you begin this Bible study, If you have never believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior, John 3:16 tells us: “ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life.’ Simply have faith that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and you will have eternal life and be saved. If you have believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior; then 1 John 1:9 tells us; “If you confess your sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Simply privately tell God the Father your sins to be filled with God the Holy Spirit and He will teach you Bible truth. Hello Everyone, today is Easter, Resurrection Sunday! I am sure you probably had fun if you hunted for eggs, ate jelly beans or bit off the ears of a chocolate bunny. Before we get into our secondary lesson, just for fun let’s see if anyone can answer this question. “What came first, the chicken or the egg?” If you answered the chicken, you are right! We know that God created the Heavens and the earth, birds, fish, zebra’s and even people. God always tells us the truth in the Bible. He never lies to us.
“Then God said; “Let the waters teem with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the heavens.” Genesis 1:20
Now let’s talk about something that you may not know about Easter. It’s really about our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ coming back to life. This happened three days after He died on the cross for all of our sins (the bad things we think, do, or say.) This is called rising from the dead or (Resurrection.)
Our Savior the Lord Jesus Christ is alive and has a new body (Resurrection body.) Here is the best part, His new body can’t feel any pain and never gets sick. It can travel anywhere even up into the sky without an airplane or a car. His new body will live forever and ever.
Last week we learned that after Jesus died on the cross and paid for our sins, His body was wrapped up in cloth and put inside of an empty cave, called a tomb. A large heavy stone was rolled across the opening. The next day, Roman soldiers placed a seal around the stone and stood guard over it so that nobody could get inside the tomb.
On the following day when it was starting to get light, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary walked over to look at the grave. An earthquake had taken place and an angel of the Lord came down from Heaven and rolled away the stone and sat on it. The angel looked like lightning and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid that they fainted!
The angel told the both Mary’s not to be afraid because Jesus was not there and He had risen from the dead. The women quickly ran to tell Jesus’ friends the disciples what had happened. The first disciples they came to, Peter and John, heard the great news; they ran as fast as they could to see for themselves if the tomb was empty and what they were told was TRUE.
John got to the tomb first and looked inside. Peter arrived after John and went inside the tomb, then John followed him and went inside. What did they See? .. only the material that Jesus had been wrapped in was left in the tomb, but Jesus was gone! Oh no… did the Zombies take him? Well or course not! Zombies aren’t real, they are just pretend. What do you think happened to Him? Where could He be? Was he playing hide and seek? Let’s see what happened.
After John and Peter left, Mary Magdalene was crying outside the tomb, she loved Jesus very much and wondered what happened to Him. Mary decided to look inside the tomb and saw two angels dressed in white sitting where Jesus had been. They asked her why she was crying. Mary told them she thought someone had stolen the body of Jesus and wondered where it was.
After she turned around, Mary saw Jesus standing there, but she had mistaken him for the gardener. He asked her, why she was crying. She told him that someone had stolen the body of Jesus.
Then Jesus said “Mary!” She suddenly realized it was the Jesus and held on to Him very tightly. She now knew the truth! Jesus was alive and had risen from the dead! Mary was so excited that she ran and told the disciples the good news, Jesus Is ALIVE! The Lord Jesus Christ had risen from the dead in three days, just like He said that He would. God always tells us the truth (Veracity.)
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” John 14:6
This week God wants you to remember that He is the truth and will never lie to us. Jesus died on the cross for our sins, the bad things we think do and say. He then rose from the dead in three days and is alive right now. Seated at the right hand of God in Heaven. That is a reason to be Happy, and why we call this day Resurrection Sunday.
