Promise Memory Verse
‘Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.”
Hey kids, did you know that God gave you a very important job? It’s to obey your parents. When you listen to your parents and do what they tell you to do, you are obeying both them and God.
When you say yes to obey your parents, you are saying yes to God. You will also be happy.
One day a little boy asked his dad if he could have a cookie, but his dad told him that it was almost lunch time and that a snack would spoil his appetite.
He went outside and saw his neighbor pulling out of their driveway and he waved good bye to them. As soon as the coast was clear, he snuck into their back yard and went inside of their house. He opened the refrigerator and a found some purple grapes. Next the boy tossed them one by one into the air to try and catch them in his mouth. Most fell on the floor.
When the neighbors got home they couldn’t understand why grapes were all over the floor. They went across the street and asked the boy’s parents if they had seen anybody break their house. Soon they all found out what the little boy did and his parents punished him.
The little boy didn’t obey his parents! He said no to them and no to God!
He wasn’t happy.
In our Bible story today, we are going to hear about Noah; he obeyed God by doing what He asked him to do even though almost everyone else didn’t obey God.
There was one man in the Bible named Noah. He accepted The Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and loved and trusted God very much. He lived a long time ago during the Age of the Gentiles. He and his wife started having kid’s when he was 500 years old and they had three boys named Shem, Ham and Japheth.
He lived at a time when the whole world was filled with violence and corruption. Even though everyone around him chose to do the wrong things and didn’t love or care about God, Noah kept on obeying, trusting and learning all about God.
God saw all of the horrible stuff the people did and how they didn’t care about God. He decided to punish them by sending a flood all over the entire earth. He told Noah His plan and told him to build a giant boat called an Ark so the he and his kids and wife would be saved.
The Bible tells us the length of Noah’s Ark was 300 cubits long, its width 50 cubits, and its height 30 cubits. To get an idea of how long it was, it would be the length of 68 horses each of horses lined behind each other in a row; as tall as five giraffes standing on top of each and as wide as a 74 bananas lying on the ground lined up in a row.
Noah worked on the Ark for a long time in fact, he worked on it for 120 years. He didn’t have special power tools or lots of people helping him. After he was done with the Ark, the inside of it looked sort of like a zoo because it had lots of empty rooms for animals to live in it.
In all of that time, none of the other people ever did believe that God was going to flood the entire earth. Can you imagine how they must have made fun of Noah! Noah obeyed God any way. God wants all of us to be like Noah and obey Him even if everyone else does not.
God made the grass, trees, alligators, birds, fish and people.
When he made you, He knew how many hairs would be on your head, what your favorite color would be and who would be the best parents for you.
God loves every single person whether they are adults or children and never makes mistakes or creates junk because He is perfect.
God always knows what’s best for you. When He tells you to obey, you need to do it.
