Jr. Tree Of Life
Communion – Part 1
Eternity Past, Age of Gentiles, Age of Israel, Hypostatic Union, Church Age, Tribulation, Millennium, Eternal future
Before you begin this Bible study, If you have never believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior, John 3:16 tells us: “ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life.’ Simply have faith that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and you will have eternal life and be saved. If you have believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior; then 1 John 1:9 tells us; “If you confess your sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Simply privately tell God the Father your sins to be filled with God the Holy Spirit and He will teach you Bible truth. And when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you;
do this in remembrance of Me.” – I Corintihans 11:24
In the same way He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood;
do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” – I Corinthians 11:25
Jennifer thought about her G-Ma after she died. Boy was she going to miss her! The good thing is that she knew that she would see her G-Ma one day in Heaven again because both of them had believed in Jesus as their Savior.
A memory popped into her head about the time that they discovered some Indian caves near the river; they skipped stones and walked through the shallow water to get to the caves and even found some arrow heads inside of them. She smiled as she remembered her G-ma running as fast as a galloping horse when she saw a water snake.
Next she thought of how her G-ma took her to the toy store on her birthday and let her pick anything that she wanted. She picked out Lego’s and the movie Jurassic Park; it scared her to watch it, but that didn’t stop her from seeing it a dozen times.
Communion=the Lord’s Supper=Eucharist
What does Jennifer’s story have to do with The Lord’s Supper, the Eucharist or Communion? When you take communion it’s a way of remembering and thanking Jesus for all of the things He did for you just like Jennifer remembered her G-ma.
Communion is a ritual. That means it is something that you do over and over again in a certain situation. An example would be like when you blow out the candles on your birthday cake on your birthday.
Before you take communion, you will be given a small piece of bread that looks like a cracker and a little cup of grape juice. These are not snacks for you to eat. Hold on to them until you are told what to do with them.
Before you eat the bread or drink the cup, you need to remember to be in fellowship with God and filled with the Holy Spirit. This happens when you rebound the bad things you do, say and think privately to God the Father.
What kind of things should you remember about The Lord Jesus Christ before you eat the bread?
Of course you are not going to think about all of the fun you had with Jesus while you had a water balloon fight together or played Barbie’s with Him. I am also positive you will not be thinking about the time you both played laser tag, made free throws or went camping together.
What you need to think about, are all of the things Jesus went through
in order to pay for your sins on that awful wooden cross.
Jesus was bullied by a lot of people right before He died on the cross. He was taken prisoner by a bunch of soldiers and was treated like he was the worst person on earth! He was punched, slapped, and whipped even though He remained perfect and never ever did anything wrong.
Some people even pulled out some of His beard and spit at Him. One person thought it would be funny to make a crown of thorns and press
it down as hard as they could onto Jesus’ head, ouch! Lots of the people made fun of Him too. Jesus never complained though.
He was filled with pain, when they nailed His hands and feet to the cross. Most of the people yelled up at Him to get down off the cross and save Himself; but He didn’t do that, because He was going to die in order to save us.
Jesus was full of love for the people that made fun of Him and He forgave them. He could have called 10,000 angels to get Him down, but He stayed and stayed and stayed, it felt like His body was on fire which seemed like it lasted forever to Him. Jesus is our hero! At this point, you will be told that it’s time to eat the bread.
What should you think about before you drink from the cup?
In order for Him to pay for your sins, Jesus had to be separated from God the Father for the first time in His life. This felt worse than all of the pain He had in His body. He also gave you a wonderful gift which is called eternal life that means when you believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins, your soul will get a new body and live with God forever after you die.
This eternal life can never be taken away from you even if you are a really bad person.
He died for you so you will never be separated from God because you are in His family forever and will share everything that Jesus has.
When you believe that Jesus died on the cross, you will not go to the Lake of fire when you die; you will go straight to Heaven because God was satisfied with what Jesus did on the cross.
When you believe that Jesus died on the cross, your record is clear and your sins will never be brought up again. It would be like getting bad grades and having bad behavior at school and someone else got in trouble for it instead of you. At this point, you will be told to drink the cup.
So remember The Lord Jesus Christ and what He did for you and be thankful,
that’s what communion is all about!
