Before you begin this Bible study, If you have never believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior, John 3:16 tells us: “ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life.’ Simply have faith that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and you will have eternal life and be saved. If you have believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior; then 1 John 1:9 tells us; “If you confess your sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Simply privately tell God the Father your sins to be filled with God the Holy Spirit and He will teach you Bible truth. Promise Memory Verse

“My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.”

 Psalm 121:2

God is Sovereign; He is the one who made everything including us. He is our king; He has a special plan for you and is always there for you.

What about Batman, is he your king? Did he make you? Does he know all about you? Can he really help you at all times?    NO WAY, ONLY GOD IS SOVEREIGN!

What about Spiderman, is he your king? Did he make you? Does he know all about you? Can he really help you at all times?   NO WAY, ONLY GOD IS SOVEREIGN!

Today, you are going to learn about Isaac. He didn’t stand out like Spiderman or Batman, but God will show us what a hero he was because Isaac trusted God.

Do you remember when Isaac was younger how his dad Abraham was supposed to sacrifice him on the altar? Isaac obeyed and let himself be tied up and put on the altar. God kept His promise and kept Isaac alive didn’t He. Isaac trusted God.

Last week, we saw that he and Rebekah really wanted kids. Isaac did a right thing when he prayed to God for kids. He trusted God. Soon after his prayer he and Rebekah had twin boys name Esau and Jacob.

Genesis 26:1-25

Isaac and Rebekah were not living in Canaan like God wanted them to. One day they moved to a place called Gerar. God was happy that he moved there and gave him the same promise of land, blessings and a large family that He gave to Abraham.

This is called the Abrahamic Covenant.

Even though God made that promise to Isaac, he forgot all about trusting God and became afraid that he would be killed when the men of Gerar saw how pretty Rebekah was. He lied to everyone and told them Rebekah was his sister. When the king of Gerar found out that she was his wife, he was really mad that Isaac told a lie.

Even though Isaac lied, the Lord blessed him and he had lots of flocks of sheep and animals. After a while, the people in the Gerar got jealous of him and they filled up the wells that his dad Abraham had dug. King Abimelech told him to get out of his kingdom.

Isaac remembered God’s promises to him. He packed up his family and everything that he owned. Isaac knew that God wanted him to live in Canaan, so he moved a short distance away.

Can you imagine camping like he did and living in a tent with creepy crawling bugs running around? I wonder how hard it was to wash clothes without water to run a washing machine.  After he dug the well, a lot of the people living close by got mad at him.

Even though Isaac had worked very hard digging that well, he trusted God and packed up his family all of his stuff once more and got out of there as quick as possible. He dug up another well and the people there got upset too.

Isaac didn’t get annoyed; he trusted God and gathered up his family and everything he owned and headed to another area. He dug up 2 more wells and guess what happened? This was right where God wanted him to live. Isaac made an altar and worshipped God. This showed he trusted God.

Even though Isaac made some mistakes, and at times forgot to trust God, He kept on reminding Isaac that he would get the land of Canaan, blessings, and a large family.

God has special plans for you too even though you make mistakes. God gave you rebound so that you can tell Him that bad things you think, do and say. The next thing He wants you to do is to learn about reasons to trust Him. That is why it’s important to learn Bible Doctrine.

When you trust God, you are a hero too!

He is the one that made everything including you. He is the king;

He has a special plan for you and is always there for you.
