Eternity Past, Age of Gentiles, Age of Israel, Hypostatic Union, Church Age, Tribulation, Millennium, Eternal future
Before you begin this Bible study, If you have never believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior, John 3:16 tells us: “ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life.’ Simply have faith that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and you will have eternal life and be saved. If you have believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior; then 1 John 1:9 tells us; “If you confess your sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Simply privately tell God the Father your sins to be filled with God the Holy Spirit and He will teach you Bible truth. Promise Memory Verse
“I have set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall serve as a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth.” Genesis 9:13
I wonder why God chose Noah to build the ark out of all of the people that were living on earth. Noah was not picked because he was the smartest or the best looking or because he was a nice person. God chose Noah because he was righteous and walked with God.
This has nothing to do with Noah being perfect.
It means that he had accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and that he loved learning God’s Word more than anything else in the world. God doesn’t think like people do. God knows (omniscience) how we think on the inside.
Noah was also humble which meant that he knew a big secret that most people don’t understand. He realized that if God had a plan, then he should always follow God’s plan and not his own in order to be happy. God knows way better than we do what is right for us.
After Noah and his family and the animals entered the Ark, God closed the door. It started raining and the waters under the earth started coming up. It rained and water rose for 40 days and nights. The ark floated and swayed through the water without even tipping over.
God never forgot about Noah during that time.
After the water stopped, Noah and his family still couldn’t leave the ark because the water was so high that it covered every bit of grass, the treetops, and even the mountains. Noah had no idea where he was, but God did; He knows everything. (Omniscience)
Can you imagine what it would be like to travel for 40 days and nights and feel the waves tossing you around but not knowing where you were going? I’ll bet Noah and his family missed seeing the sunshine, puffy white clouds shaped like cartoon characters and blue skies.
I wonder if the animals missed dry land. Did the horses feel like galloping around the ark?
Did the birds miss hanging out in the trees?
Did the hyena’s laughter, drive everyone around them crazy?
Can you imagine Noah going up and down ladders to each floor in the ark when he was over 600 years old? What did they eat? I can tell you right now, I doubt if it was hot dogs, cotton candy, or ice cream cones.
We do know that Noah was patient, and he and his family waited inside the ark while it floated around and around for 150 days. One day, God sent lots and lots of wind and the water started drying up. By this time, they had all been on the ark for 6 long months.
Finally, one day the ark finally came to a stop and rested upon the mountains of Ararat. Did they get off the ark yet? No, they waited and waited some more and after 40 days, mountain tops started showing.
Noah sent out a raven 40 day later and it flew around. Next, he sent out a dove, but he didn’t find a resting place and came back to the ark because lots of water still covered the trees and the ground.
Another week went by and Noah sent the dove out again,
and you will never guess what happened, the dove came back in the evening with a fresh Olive leaf in her beak. Wow, that means the water was below the tree tops. Noah sent the dove out once more and it never came back.
Noah and his family ended up being on that ark for a little over a year before they finally were able to get off it. He removed the cover and God told them to scatter everywhere, multiple and fill up the whole earth with people again.
The first thing Noah did when he got off the ark was to sacrifice some of each kind of clean animals to God and thanked Him for keeping them all safe.
God made a promise to Noah and even all of us today by putting a rainbow in the sky.
This is God’s promise that He will never ever destroy the whole entire earth with a flood again.
