Prayer – Daniel –
Part 3
06/21/2020
Before you begin this Bible study, If you have never believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior, John 3:16 tells us: “ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life.’ Simply have faith that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and you will have eternal life and be saved. If you have believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior; then 1 John 1:9 tells us; “If you confess your sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Simply privately tell God the Father your sins to be filled with God the Holy Spirit and He will teach you Bible truth. “Pray without ceasing” – 1 Thessalonians 5:17
For the past couple of weeks, you have been learning about prayer. The verse “pray without ceasing” means that God wants you to talk to him all of the time. The good part is that you don’t need to text, call, or Face time Him because He listens to even your silent prayers. Wow, how awesome is that!
God only hears prayers when we you get in fellowship with Him first, before actually praying. This means that you need to rebound all the bad things you think, do or say before talking with Him.
“If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear;”
Daniel and his friends Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were teenagers who were believers in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior. They knew that God wanted them to pray to God the Father and never to Jesus, or fake gods that were made of stone, clay or wood.
One day something unfair happened! King Nebuchadnezzar captured the four boys and brought them from Judah where they lived to a far away country called Babylon. Even though they never saw their parents again, they still learned Bible Doctrine and prayed all of the time.
One day, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego ended up being thrown into a fiery furnace by king Nebuchadnezzar because they didn’t worship a huge, ugly statue! This was so unfair!
God, the only fair one of the universe, rescued the three boys. If He could keep them safe in hugest camp fire of them all, then He will help you when you are
afraid of getting a shot from your doctor.
When Daniel was an old man, Darius was the king. He saw what a great job Daniel did and was planning on making him in charge over the whole kingdom. There was a large group of men that were jealous of him!
Those evil people hated Daniel so much, that they tricked king Darius into making a law for 30 days that everyone had to pray to him. Those who didn’t pray to Darius would be eaten by hungry lions.
Daniel knew about the ferocious lions, but that didn’t stop him from praying to the one true God three times a day every day. The hateful, mean spirited men were watching him and couldn’t wait to tell on him.
When the king heard what was going on, he tried to come up with a plan to rescue Daniel. Unfortunately, the law he made couldn’t be changed and Daniel was thrown into the lions’ den.
God came to his rescue! Those starving lions didn’t leave a scratch or bite marks on Daniel. If God could keep him safe from the hungry lions, then He will help keep you safe from the creepy wasps that you saw at your grandma’s house.
Talking to God the Father is just as just as important today in the Church Age as it was during the Age of Israel where our Bible stories took place. Once you are in fellowship with God, the next step to prayer is to find something to be thankful for. (we have so much to be thankful for!)
Did you know if you are a great catcher on your baseball team that you need to thank God for giving you that special talent? If you get all A’s on your spelling tests, you need to thank God for giving you that ability?
After you find something to thank God for, then He wants you to pray for other people. If your mom had a bad day at work, I bet she would love it if you prayed for her. Our president has a really hard job and always needs your prayers.
Don’t forget to pray for yourself. Did you lose your new shoes? You can ask God to help you find them. Do you really want a pair of new roller blades for your birthday; it’s perfectly alright to ask God for them.
How do I talk to you God?
I will tell God before I pray all the wrong I did today
I do not pray to Jesus or a piece of clay or stone
But, to my Heavenly Father who hears me without a phone
I am thankful my mom let me have blue hair
I pray for my dad who fell down the stairs
Please Father don’t let me dream again about the purple bear,
who was chasing my dog Rex everywhere
In Jesus name, I pray amen
