Before you begin this Bible study, If you have never believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior, John 3:16 tells us: “ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life.’ Simply have faith that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and you will have eternal life and be saved. If you have believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior; then 1 John 1:9 tells us; “If you confess your sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Simply privately tell God the Father your sins to be filled with God the Holy Spirit and He will teach you Bible truth. “Pray without ceasing” – 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Daniel 1:1-7 & 3:1-27
Our Bible story takes place way before any of us were born in the Age of Israel. Today we live in the church Age. Many of the people in a country called Judah disobeyed God and worshiped idols instead of the one true God. Fake gods or idols have no power and cannot help us when we have a problem.
God allowed King Nebuchadnezzar, from a faraway place called Babylon, to attack Judah because they were not obeying Him. The king took a lot of money and captured some of the teenagers and took them back to Babylon with him. Daniel and his three friends; Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who were believers in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior, were part of that group. God was with them though (omnipresent). Remember, He never leaves our sides.
They were forced to learn a new language and even had their names changed. Through all of this, none of the four friends forgot about God. They still worshipped Him. This means that they loved, respected, trusted and prayed to God every day. It must have been really hard for them to live apart from their parents.
King Nebuchadnezzar decided to build a golden statue. It was 90 feet tall and 9 feet wide. This was an idol and it was taller than 5 giraffes standing on each other’s shoulders. The king could not wait to show it off to everyone in the kingdom. Many people gathered together; he told them that when the music played they were to bow down to the statue and worship it. Whoever decided not to do this were to be thrown into the fiery furnace! Most everyone was so afraid that they did what the king wanted. God wasn’t pleased with king Nebuchadnezzar.
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego did not bow down to the statue because they knew that God didn’t want them to do that. Some of the king’s officials hated Daniels’ friends and told on them.
Nebuchadnezzar was very mad and full of hatred! He ordered that the fire be made seven times hotter in the furnace! The three friends were tied up and thrown into the blazing hot flames. There was no way that they would come out of this alive without a miracle from God.
After the fire died down enough for the king to look inside, he was surprised! There were now four men in the fire walking around. One of them was the Angel of the Lord. King Nebuchadnezzar yelled, to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to come out.
God had kept them safe. Their hair and clothing were not burned, and they did not even smell like smoke. Our Heavenly Father had answered their prayers and kept them safe. He, GOD, never left their sides. (omnipresent)
God wants boys and girls to pray every day. He hears you even though you cannot see Him. He listened to the prayers of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and rescued them out of fire. If God can rescue them, then He will help you with things like a hard math problem or a bad dream, or even to help you to make friends.
Before you pray, you need to rebound so that He will hear your prayers. You always pray to God the Father and never to Jesus, Mary or to hunks of stone. Next, you need tell God something you are thankful for. After that, think about your friends or family. Do any of them need God’s help? Once you have prayed for others, then it’s time to pray for yourself. Make sure that you don’t pray for something silly. God is not going turn you into a super-hero or give you wings so that you can fly. End all of your prayers in Jesus name, Amen.
How do I talk to you God?
I will tell God before I pray all the wrong I did today
I do not pray to Jesus or a piece of clay or stone
But, to my Heavenly Father who hears me without a phone
I am thankful my mom let me have blue hair
I pray for my dad who fell down the stairs
Please Father don’t let me dream again about the purple bear
who was chasing my dog Rex everywhere.
In Jesus name, I pray amen
