“Being Thankful”- Jesus Heals

 05/17/2020

Promise – Memory Verse

In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

Before you begin this Bible study, If you have never believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior, John 3:16 tells us: “ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life.’ Simply have faith that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and you will have eternal life and be saved. If you have believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior; then 1 John 1:9 tells us; “If you confess your sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Simply privately tell God the Father your sins to be filled with God the Holy Spirit and He will teach you Bible truth. Read Luke 17:11-19

Jesus Christ our Savior loved spending time teaching before He died on the cross for our sins during the Hypostatic Union. Sometimes when he was giving a Bible message, He performed a miracle. This is something that no ordinary man could do. Jesus has two sides to Him. He is 100% man and 100% true God.

Ten men had a disease called Leprosy. This means they had sores spreading all over their bodies. The worst part was that others could catch it easily. They had to stay away from their families and friends and even had to move away from the homes and communities. I bet they missed everybody so much. How would you feel if that happened?

When someone would start to walk toward the leper, they had to yell out the words “unclean, unclean” so everyone would stay away.

One day the ten sick men saw Jesus and yelled over to Him “Master, have mercy on us!” They were hoping He would heal them. Jesus told them to go show themselves to the priest. As they were running to do that, our Savior used His God side and healed them. Only one of the men went back and thanked Jesus for making him well.

This man knew that he didn’t deserve to be healed, but that God’s grace did it for him anyway. God wants us to find things to be thankful for every day.

In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

Today is just an ordinary day in the Church Age. Even though it’s not a holiday, let’s do something special. How about we go on a scavenger hunt? Just for fun, if you have a camera, take some pictures on your hunt of things that you are thankful for. If you don’t have camera, then write down of list of what you see that you are thankful for.

Christopher went on a scavenger hunt and saw his mom, and was thankful that she made him cupcakes and helped him with a really hard math problem. He looked at his big brother Connor, and was thankful that he let him hold his new black spiky hedgehog.

Chris stepped outside and was thankful for the beautiful drawing on the sidewalk that his sisters’ Emilee and Sophie made. Next in the yard there was a robin made of feathers and fluff. He was thankful that God kept it safe during storms. Finally, he saw his sister Zelda playing with her dolls on the porch and was thankful that he didn’t have to play with them too.

Let’s remember this week to be thankful. When you do this, you are obeying God and you are an invisible hero. None of us earn or deserve anything that we have, but God is grace and gives it to us anyway.
