The Armor of God: Part 7
Prayer
Eternity Past, Age of Gentiles, Age of Israel, Hypostatic Union, Church Age, Tribulation, Millennium, Eternal Future
Before you begin this Bible study, if you have never believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior, John
3:16 tells us: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life.” Simply have faith that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and you will have eternal life and be saved. If you have believed in Jesus Christ as your Savior, then 1 John 1:9 tells us: “If you confess your sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Simply privately tell God the Father your sins to be filled with God the Holy Spirit and He will teach you Bible truth (Rebound).
Promise-Memory Verse
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.” - Ephesians 6:10-11
The devil and his group of fallen angels spend much of their time trying to keep all of us from finding out the truth. Their favorite weapon isn’t a gun, knife, or a tank. It’s telling lies. Lies can hurt your soul. That’s why God gives you invisible armor.
The first thing you need to do to be protected from Satan and his minions is to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior. Once you do that, God will give you the gift of eternal life. This is a forever present. It can never be lost or stolen from you.
God the Holy Spirit shares His power with you every time you tell God what you’ve done wrong. This is called the filling of the Holy Spirit. He will help you to have courage to do the right things when bad stuff is happening. God the Holy Spirit will also help you to have the right words to witness to other people so that they can have eternal life. Satan hates it when you use these weapons.
The Bible is full of promises from God. Every time you remember a promise and trust God, you are using God’s invisible armor. It protects you when you are afraid or worried.
God’s word works sort of like a cast on a broken arm. It heals the hurt feelings you may have, and the things that make you feel icky. When you learn God’s word, your soul will grow up spiritually and you will be an invisible hero in God’s army.
“With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit.”
Ephesians 6:18a.
Prayer is another important weapon that goes along with the rest of your invisible armor. Prayer is talking to God. So, how do you reach Him? Well, it’s much easier than you think. You don’t need to phone or text Him, nor do you need to send Him an email.
God has always existed, so you may wonder if He can hear your prayers without hearing aids. I can assure you that He has perfect hearing and can even hear what you say silently to Him. God never goes on vacation, or puts on noise cancelling headphones so He can ignore you. He loves it when you talk to Him!
You don’t have to be in a church to pray. Prayer isn’t just for adults such as your pastor, it’s for kids too. It doesn’t matter if you are an orphan girl or boy, or the richest person on earth, God still hears your prayers.
We know that animals can’t pray. God gave deer instincts that tell them to run when they see a hunter coming. It would really look really silly if a deer started praying to God to protect him from the hunter’s wouldn’t it?
Prayer can only be heard by God if you are filled with God the Holy Spirit. This happens when you rebound the bad stuff you think, do, or say first. God the Father is the one who answers all prayers, so don’t pray to Jesus. In fact, Jesus even prays to God the Father. Next, tell God something that you are thankful for. Then it’s time to pray for other people and then yourself. Then, end your prayer, “in Jesus name, amen.”
Here is a poem that will help you remember:
How Do I Talk to You God
I will tell God before I pray all the wrong I did today
I do not pray to Jesus or a piece of clay or stone
But, to my Heavenly Father who hears me without a phone
I am thankful my mom let me have blue hair
I pray for my dad who fell down the stairs
Please Father don’t let me dream again about the purple bear,
who was chasing my dog Rex everywhere
In Jesus name, I pray amen
